Tsubame Onsen, Myoko
Set in Myoko, within 37 km of Zenkoji Temple and 39 km of Nagano Station, Tomiya Ryokan offers accommodation with ski-to-door access and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. Located in the Tsubame Onsen district, the property provides guests with access to a hot spring bath and a public bath. The ryokan has family rooms. Tomiya Ryokan was a true authentic Japanese Ryokan, run by the most kind, warm-hearted family. Jintaro and Yukiye (sp?) prepared us the most amazing dinner (message them ahead for a dinner reservation). Their father, Hideo greeted us warmly. Their location is set right across from the Seki Onsen ski lift and the local community bus took us from the Sekiyama train station to a stop right in front of their ryokan. Their onsen is iron-rich, with fine red particulates and was perfect for evening, near full-moon soaking, but even better with the morning sunrise.
Ikenotaira Onsen, Myoko
Set in Myoko in the Niigata region and Zenkoji Temple reachable within 30 km, Cafe Cerisier栖里時絵 offers accommodation with free WiFi, barbecue facilities, ski-to-door access and free private parking. Ideally located in the Ikenotaira Onsen district, this ryokan features a garden, as well as a hot spring bath and a public bath. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. I stayed five nights snowboarding at Ikenotaira ski resorts. The inn was running two elderly couples, and their lovely granddaughter came to help during the busy season. It was more like a homestay in a Japanese family with a big house than a hotel. The rooms were nice and clean with toilets. Breakfast was delicious having fresh salad and fruit. The couples were very welcoming, and I enjoyed my solo travel very much. About IkenoTaira ski resort: If you go skiing or snowboarding, the snow where great here. During my stay, almost every day was snowing heavily. I enjoyed skiing in powder snow, it was a great feeling.

A nice Ryokan in Myoko, a little dated but quite comfortable. The rooms are spacious were were a family of 3 adults sharing a room and we all had plenty of room. Trditional futon sleeping, futons were a little thin for our comfort but the doona cover was lovely and warm. The hosts are very friendly people, nothing was too much trouble. There is a public onsen and a private onsen. We booked the private bath and it was wonderful. We had a Japanese breakfast one morning and it was delicious! The staff were exceptionally friendly
The onsen was lovely the room was really nicely decorated ( Japanese style) tatami and futons
The size of the rooms was excellent with a nice view of the mountains. There were plenty of facilities with a wine bar, coffee shop, restaurants, and a games room for the kids. The onsens (hot springs were fantastic, both inside and outside. Situated in a very convenient location, close to the ski resort and restaurants. This is an excellent hotel, highly recommended 👌
Traditional tatami may rooms are very clean and roomy and a great experience. Futon beds are as comfortable as a western bed. The breakfast is fantastic. Easy walk to all restaurants.
Great sized room with stunning views. We had the traditional futon to sleep on which was surprisingly comfortable. Staff were super friendly and helpful. It was great being able to grab a yummy breakfast before starting the day. Excellent location, walking distance to ski lifts and the main street. I didn't use the onsen but a few travel companions did and said it was fantastic.
quiet and spacious hotel. our corner room was wonderful with windows (double for warmth) on 3 sides with lovely views. clean tatami mats but sleeping on western beds. great in-room shower but the onsen (on-site) was fantastic. Seki onsen itself was wonderful. the hotel itself is right next to this oldest ski resort in Japan which is still family- owned, had plenty of powder, and most importantly, was not overrun by Australians like in Akakura village. we had a car so accessing the other ski resorts nearby and going out to dinner was fabulous.
I always dreamed to travel like a Japanese in a hot spring town, so I was very happy that my dream came true in Kofugan. I love most was the tatami room with splendid view of the myoko mountain. the hot spring was just as good as I expected.
the traditional room was spacious, and has a great view of the mountains. you can experience the Japanese lifestyle wearing Yukatas and sleeping on futons which were so comfortable, and you can keep your shoes on all the way to your room. the onsen was great, especially the outside one when it was snowing. the kids had fun in the games room even though it cost me with those skill testers. bars are great too with nice beer on draught.
Great view from two sides, ability to book private onsen was really good. Futon beds were comfy and the staff very helpful. Thanks!
Traditional Ryokan, with Onsen, a couple of minutes from two ski mountains. With multiple restaurants within easy walking distance.
