Opened in June 2013, The Edo Sakura offers accommodation in a Japanese-style Machiya townhouse located a 5-minute walk from Iriya Subway Station and a 10-minute walk from JR Uguisudani Train Station. The breakfasts were excellent. The staff became like good friends. It felt like more than just a business; the place has heart. The baths were a wonderful option, relaxing and romantic. We absolutely love The Edo Sakura and will be staying there every time we visit Tokyo.

Ryokan Sansuiso er aðeins 450 metra frá JR Gotanda-lestarstöðinni, á Yamanote-línunni. Það býður upp á hefðbundin japönsk gistirými með tatami-gólfum (ofinn hálmur), futon-rúmum og ókeypis WiFi. It is a nice and quaint location. If you are interested in experiencing more traditional Japanese hotel with tatami mats and sleeping on a futon, this is a good option for low price. Naturally it does not provide onsen and the very exotic Ryokan style food service. The owner is really nice. I can only form the most basic Japanese sentences and he does not speak a lot of English, but still we understood each other. Check-in and introductions for the room and the facilities was all done verbally. I only had to rely on a translator app when I requested a taxi to Shinagawa station during check-out. It is not a bad walk, but it was raining so I did not want to get myself and my luggage wet. Taxi fare was 1600 yen. If you are walking to the Ryokan from Shinagawa station, then I recommend planning your route to approach from the south. If you take the slightly smaller street towards the Gotanda Waterfront Plaza, the T-intersection at the end is a very good indicator you are very close by and do not need to worry about walking too far and missing your turn.

A 2-minute walk from Sendagi Subway Station, Japanese-style hotel Annex Katsutaro Ryokan features rooms with traditional tatami (woven-straw) flooring and free Wi-Fi internet. The location was ok, not too many places to eat around (at least with ramen). But I am a fan of this hotel, it has a great atmosphere, friendly staff. For 2 nights it was a great experience.

Situated in the Asakusa area, Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu has a history of 70 years. The accommodation boasts a view of the Tokyo Skytree from its Hinoki wood bath. Great views to Senso ji and the pagoda from the balcony/window. Traditional tatami and tea room and right off the market. Onsen was a nice experience and views to the skytree.

Situated 200 metres from Choen-ji Temple, 寅ホテル 御徒町 TORA HOTEL Okachimachi in Tokyo features rooms with air conditioning and free WiFi. It is set 300 metres from Tokaku-ji Temple and offers a lift. There is a lift so no need to worry about carrying luggage. The room is spacious for 4 people. Everything is available from TV to kitchen cabinet to sofa to 4 comfortable thick beds to washing machine. Location is near to train station and bus stop but oddly enough the place is quiet at night so you can have peaceful sleep. This is a gem!

Cyashitsu Ryokan asakusa er staðsett í Tókýó, 300 metra frá Asakusa Fuji-helgiskríninu og 7,5 km frá miðbænum. Boðið er upp á loftkæld gistirými með ókeypis WiFi og baðkari undir berum himni. The hospitality and attention to detail was excellent. We felt at home and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Also the room was very cozy and gave us that authentic Japanese experience. Also the breakfast was very good.

Tokyo inn Sakura An er staðsett í Tókýó, 200 metra frá Tokyo Origami-safninu og 600 metra frá Chiisanagarasunohonno-safninu og býður upp á ókeypis reiðhjól og útsýni yfir hljóðláta götu. The place fits perfectly for a family, it’s cozy, spacious(compared to regular Japanese hotel stay), comfortable and close to convenience stores and Asakusa Sta. We travelled with our two teenagers and they loved the closet style beds. The host was always attentive of our needs and questions. It was indeed a pleasant stay and well recommended for sure.

Situated in Tokyo, within 1.5 km of Sensoji Temple and 2.2 km of Tokyo Skytree, Ryokan Nakadaya offers accommodation with a shared lounge. This was booked for my sister who was traveling alone. Her review is: A perfect blend of traditional furnishings (tatami rooms with futons) and modern amenities (showers, fridge, washer, dryer). Whatever extra needs you have, the proprietor, Tatsuo-san, will make it happen. The man never sleeps and makes you feel 100% taken care of. His wife is seldom there, but her hand is felt throughout the house and in the way the place is run. Just follow the (few, reasonable) house rules, and you will have your own perfect quiet island

Takanawa Hanakohro, a Member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World is located in Tokyo, 2.3 km from Ebisu Garden Place. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Hanakohro offered a peaceful and comfortable retreat where time and expenses were never a concern. Everything was taken care of, allowing us to fully unwind and enjoy the experience, which included exploring the unique lounges, garden and buildings on the grounds. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding, making us feel at home.
