The hotel was being renovated while I was there, so it must be all new now. My room was already looking new and was very nice. The breakfast area also was being renovated so I think it would be unfair to judge by what I had. Overall, I really liked the hotel. Walking distance to the Train Station and supermarkets.

Beautiful historic old part of the town - all easy to reach from Hotel Carlton. The City Bus Tour gives the history of Annecy. Plenty of places to eat out whatever your budget. Good place for couples and families alike as there are plenty of activities going on - especially around the lake. Visited in September. Boat trip on the lake not to be missed.
The atmosphere in the evening feels just as ‘safe’ as during the day and is beautifully lit. It does get busy with tourists so eat early or book ahead for restaurants in old town.

In the three days we were here, we walked around the old town, took the hour long boat trip on the lake, ate at several restaurants and got drunk at some bars afterwards, Annecy is a lovely town and perhaps four days would have been better, but any more than that would be too much.

Cycling round the lake using hired e-bikes was a winner.
Cycling round the lake using hired e-bikes was a winner. Free transport by bus provided during main holiday season July and August so makes it easy to visit beaches round the lake. Mountain walks are only worth doing in good weather not low cloud!

Annecy is my favourite place in the world.
Annecy is my favourite place in the world. It has everything; beautiful views, no litter, no anti-social behaviour, the clean lake and canals, well planted hanging baskets and borders all over, French culture, a lovely market, plenty of places to sit, a fantastic range of restaurants and bars, amazing ice cream, fantastic shopping and an excellent range of activities.

Annecy is a stunningly beautiful town at the top of the lake - of the same name. Although it's a tourist magnet, this doesn't detract from the pretty streets and perfect location. There is something for everyone here. You can take part in water sports on the lake or you can lounge around on the waterfront. If shopping is your thing, there are plenty of places explore in the town - as well as a market in the old town three days a week. Additionally, there are plenty of excellent restaurants. Cycling along the piste is the best way to get around the lake - driving is a bit of a nightmare during the summer months.
Imperial Palace is the best hotel I have stayed at my France trip this time. We traveled in France for 19 days, from Paris, to Mount Saint Michel, to Central Lories Chateau area, then to Lyon, Marselle, Annecy, back to Paris. We are more satisfied with Imperial Palace than Paris Hilton Opera, not to mention the other hotels. The lake was beautiful, town was gorgeous, service is friendly, everything left us a beautiful memory. We'll stay in Imperial Palace again, if we will visit Annecy in the future.
The building is located on the shore of Lake Annecy, a fifteen-minute easy walk to the center of the old town and at the beginning of a beautiful promenade next to the lake in the opposite direction. The rooms are spacious, air-conditioned with free WiFi connection. Parking is also free and is located within the hotel grounds. Breakfast is for an extra charge.
It’s a good location to walk into the old town and the lake. We were able park in a secure car park right outside and had quick access by car to the rest of Annecy
