Embark on an authentic Indian joyride into mad Mumbai’s chaotic streets with its revving rickshaws, bustling bazaars, timeless temples and colonial history. This melting pot of Indian culture features a mix of rich Bollywood wannabes and the city’s slum dwellers, all residing together in India’s most populous city.
South Mumbai is a useful starting point with the symbolic Gateway of India in Colaba welcoming local Marathis and tourists alike. Opposite is the impressive Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel. The Art Deco Regal Cinema underlines Mumbai’s colonial heritage.
A top Indian curry comprises key ingredients and your Mumbai experience should also include a menu of fashion, film and nightlife. Leopold Café is a place to be seen and there are many other chic bars and clubs. You can do a Bollywood tour where you can even feature as an extra in a film!
During the day, take a trip by ferry to the Elephanta Island with its caves and then spend the evening people watching on Chowpatty Beach in the south or Juhu Beach in the west.
Booking.com has hotels in Adheri in the west, around the fort and train station in the south or nearby central Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, amongst many others.
Mumbai is a big city. I attended a film festival in the area, and it was a nice walk to the cinema. Plenty to do and see, food (Parsi, Goan, street snacks) to explore. I took a midnight bicycle ride, started at 11 pm ended 3 am. Great view of south Mumbai.

After arriving at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus we had a bad experience. A grey-bearded man wearing a turban - I assumed he was someone’s grandfather meeting a family member off the train - advised us not to go with the porter who had offered to help us with our cases. The man in the turban said he’d help us get to our hotel and called over 2 younger men who escorted us to a waiting taxi. When my husband asked what the fare to the hotel would be one of the men said all taxis in Mumbai are metered. When we reached the hotel the taxi driver drove into a side street and demanded Rs5,000. We asked to see the meter which showed Rs3000. We knew from our research that the fare ought to be around Rs600 for the distance we’d travelled.
We argued and the tone which up to then had been friendly turned menacing. We were told to pay what the meter said. Reluctantly my husband counted out out 6 x Rs500 notes and handed them to the driver. Next thing the driver told my husband he’d paid the wrong banknotes and showed us 4 x Rs20 notes in his hand. Now my husband had only had 10 x Rs500 in his wallet, so we knew the driver was lying. Anyway, to cut this long story short, we grabbed our bags and just moved off quickly to the hotel entrance.
I have taken the trouble to write of our experience because I believe other travellers arriving at LTT need be warned to avoid these shady characters.

no disturbances easy location to get a taxi or near by grand road local train stop .sorrounding one hotel restaurant named pejaus was really good having north south chinese punjabi foods that too u can order for free room service
The location is excellent for flyers going out and come. Very near the airport, walkable, with min bags. All transport to airport and to city, Open 24 hrs, Aircon only in the mid night. Bath n wash good with hot water. Drinkable water always available. Calm n easy. Unfortunately on one side of the location all low incomers n very dirty, on the other side airport n 5 star hotels.
Restaurant with reasonable prices, room boys can be useful. One guy in the early hours woke me, helped me to taxi.
We needed a place to sleep for our 6am flight. The hotel is okay. to go to the airport from the hotel costs ₹300. So it is not cheap to get to the airport from this hotel. The airport is very close but the taxi or Uber charges minimum ₹200-300. The rooms are basic. If I were to redo this trip, I would stay in a better economical place away from airport. The taxi ride cost was a surprise for me. I didn’t find value for my money.
All staff at this hotel were brilliant - super friendly and helpful and really helped us settle in to our first few nights in India. They helped with mobile SIM cards, transfers from airport, transfers on to railway station and printing of tickets, arrangements for a tour, restaurant recommendations… the list goes on. Couple this with superb breakfast choices and a central location it’s the ideal place to stay
The hotel is right inside the airport building, so you don't even leave the airport premises. The best thing about this hotel is the staff and their eagerness to help and make you comfortable. We met one such dedicated staff member named "Saju" who went out of his call of duty to help my parents and my sister during their stay. This is very much appreciated.
We were welcomed warmly by the staff and two concierges on duty were so helpful and kind . Give us helpful hints about all sorts of useful stuff . The front desk staff were friendly and helpful . They are the best staff I have encountered having stayed at all the five star hotels in Mumbai . This alone will make me a regular guest in this welcoming hotel !
Taj Hotels chain, well experienced in the hospitality industry. Luxury Hotel, very professional management, excellent staff and the hotel was well designed.
Breakfast and the food in the restaurants was very delicious and clean.
A real 5 stars Hotel. I have enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
Thanks to Tata Group and Taj Hotels group
Almost everything about hotel was great. I particularly liked the breakfasts which were enormously varied with some of the best dosas ever. Depending on your view the airport location isn't great. On the other hand, when you're ready to travel, its super relaxing to completely avoid Mumbai traffic.
Coming fro Pune to Mumbai to catch an international flight at 3am, we were looking for a cheap, reasonably clean and comfotable place near the airport to rest since we wanted to come a little early to avoid uncertainties on the expressway. The hotel served the purpose. We did not stay for breakfast
Location is prime Mumbai city to all cafeteria, monuments and 5 star hotels like Taj Heritage, Gateway of India.
Colaba market is just step down and variety of purchasing is available for shopping.
All worldwide outlets like McDonald's, Pizza Express, are available near by the hotels.
One of the best hotel near Mumbai airport nice clean and luxurious room.. they give me complementary room upgrade.. the staffs are friendly even the breakfast is quite good with lots of options.. highly recommended... Had a awesome stay at this property.. 10/10
There is nothing to like as hotel have very small and in smoking corner outside no ashtray provided every body throwing cigarette butts on ground in that corner realyy pathetic it can not have 5 start grade at all
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in India. close to US consulate. easy access from Airport. Awesome ambience and spacious rooms. my kids liked the hotel. very good staff and quality service.
