Santiago is an awesome city. The people are wonderful and there are so many great restaurants. The metro system is the best in South America - clean efficient and safe. I would recommend la Biferia for excellent wine and steak, and la giratorio for something a little bit gimmicky but also awesome.

Interesting city with easy access metro system. Highlights included San Cristobal Hill for the view and the main square. Due to the issues with pickpockets and street crime, it does require being hypervigilant with your valuables. We were touring the area around the Central Market when a local man approached us (2 women) and warned us that we were not safe in that area and needed to leave. Uber was the best way to get around and very cheap.

I did not feel safe walking around even during the day and came home straight after dinner each night. We liked Lastarria district at night for dinner. Great city to visit surrounded by magnificent mountains. The funicular, garden on top of San Cristobal Hill, teleferico, various shopping areas can be easily accessed with hop on/hop off bus. Did not like Santiago Airport. Not because it is big, but because comfort of passengers was not considered as its first priority when designed.AnatoliAustralia

The times of the shuttle are really estimates and so my pick up time from the airport was delayed by about 45 mins. Very nice, spacious, and clean rooms. Breakfast was surprisingly good for this price. Staff for the most attentive except for one person at the front desk during check-in. I was allowed to keep part of my luggage stored at the hotel until 6p the day I checked out.

We stayed here on 2 occasions when transiting through Santiago and enjoyed it both times. It's a modern hotel with big rooms, beds and bathrooms. They have a gym, a pool, and a sauna (which wasn't working when we stayed). They also offer free airport shuttles to/from the airport which run every half an hour or so, and have a storage room for baggage
