The Historic part of Dunedin was within walking distance, there were many food options in the area, we really enjoyed the breweries which were a short walk away. The staff were hospitable and helpful.

I just love the Dunedin vibe. I was at a conference so didn't get a lot of spare time on this trip. Usually, I do all sorts of things. The museum, the Metro Cinema, an escape room, art gallery, church services, and the beach! Did I mention the great shopping?!

I visited the Farmers Market which was fun. I also had a takeaway meal of blue cod, oysters and homemade chips from Best Cafe. The meal was amazing.
I visited a part of the Botanic gardens which was lovely and watched a women’s rugby game at Opoho, just above the Gardens. We were treated to beautiful weather and a large flocks of wood pigeons!

It was very cold, but luckily it didn't rain and where we've stayed our heatpump was amazing. Dunedin is beautiful with very old beautiful buildings and lots of noisy students walking in the main streets until very late talking very loud and kicking rubbish bins.
The hotel is set in a fantastic location, right next to the beach. The staff were great upon our arrival and our room was excellent. We had a nice ocean view from the balcony, the room was clean and well appointed. Our bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. There was onsite parking available and a few nice restaurants and cafes nearby. We were given complimentary tickets to the heated seawater pool about 150m from the hotel which we made use of. It was easy to get to the Otego Peninsular, the Albatross Centre and central Dunedin.
The hotel is right in Dunedin so we were able to walk to the shopping centre and local tourist sights. The pub downstairs was great. We ate one meal in the dining room and it was fantastic. Our beds were really comfortable and the rooms were warm (we travelled in winter). The bathroom was clean and airy with a big window which opened. This was a neat hotel which I would describe as "art deco" but this could be the wrong description. They also had free parking for hotel guests which was MUCH appreciated!
This hostel is central to Dunedin, so you do not have to walk far to the restaurants and bars in the Octagon. The hostel sits over a large bar with a lot of billiard tables. Seems very popular with the locals and college students studying at the nearby University of Otago. The dorm rooms are typical bunk bed layouts with budget twin mattresses. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and a decent kitchen area. They have free breakfast, but it is a pretty minimal offering.
I really liked my room and the hotel generally. It was beautifully designed and made me feel comfortable during my stay while in town for the women's world cup. The staff was so nice, friendly, and very helpful. The housekeeping staff did such a great job cleaning my room. The front desk staff was so patient and friendly every time and I had questions. The cafe staff was so welcoming and nice. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would love to return.
This attractive hotel is a very modern design and has some great features. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Good, quiet location and we paid for the convenience of the hotel car park. Our room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we could want. You could buy drinks and snacks in the room (inc cocktails). We enjoyed breakfasts/snacks in the hotel cafe and we could explore Dunedin easily. There were lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
My general experience of New Zealand is that accommodations are overpriced and underachieving. Hope Street was quite the reverse. I wanted to stay longer, because it was so convenient and comfortable. Don't expect luxury, mind you, not at the very fair price I paid. But everything I needed and one of the few places I looked forward to going home to.
Hotel was beautifully decorated, upmarket and plush. Room amenities were wonderful. Loved the Coffee and Tea facilities and spa quality bathroom amenities. Wonderful continental breakfast. Walking distance from Dunedin Octagon and shopping. Concierge facilities great. Loved our stay. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
It was a great location next to the Settlers Museum and historic train station. Within a few blocks of lots of restaurants and shopping. The free parking was a convenience and with everything so close, we walked everywhere.
The hotel had a very nice lounge overlooking the street where I worked on my computer.
great location walking distance to centre of Dunedin.
stayed in the large two bedroom suite.
modern mini home.
quiet even with NYE celebrations happening around town.
SMS received first thing next morning to see what we needed done for the room as this was a self check hotel with no staff on site.
Fantastic location. After 11 nights this was the most comfy bed and the room was very well presented. The balcony was great and the shower preassure awesome. The staff were very helpful. Cant wait to come back to Dunedin and will book the same hotel and room if i can.
This is our favourite hotel in Dunedin due to its location, facilities & hospitality. The staff has always been amazing. Mike even let us check in very early (10ish) as soon as we got to Dunedin city from the airport. Thanks heaps Mike. Hugely appreciated!!!...
Great central location and was welcomed nicely on arrival. Nice quiet private studio. Easy to heat with both a heater and heat pump which was great to beat the evening chill. Would recommend to friends looking for a motel in Dunedin.
Centrally located, this is a stylish luxury hotel. Beautiful (and quiet) rooms, very helpful and friendly staff. Very handy to have the Press Club restaurant in-house, with great food.
Had to stay 4 extra nights unexpectedly. The hotel went out of their way to accommodate us and upgraded our room. The best service I have had in Dunedin. Will definitely stay again.
The Distinction Hotel Dunedin is a shining example of old-school customer care, warmth and quality all wrapped up in a beautifully kept heritage property. Dunedin should be proud.
Years ago we stayed at the Hotel del Coranado, where "Some Like It Hot" was filmed...Majestic Mansions is smaller, but has the same graceful Victorian charm...simple elegance
