The location was fabulous and the view from the room breathtaking.
The room was large and welcoming, great to relax in.
The food was fresh and well cooked.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially a gentleman on the front desk named James.
His customer skills were exceptional and he always seemed to be everywhere helping out where he could.
James will go far.

Ullapool was cute and the views over the water special. Interesting watching the ferries leave and come in from the islands. We were very lucky when we were there as the sun was shining and it was warm.

Our first time in Ullapool, but it won't be the last time...
Our first time in Ullapool, but it won't be the last time there and we will definitely stay at "The Wreck" or "The Ruin" on our next trip. The location is right beside the Sea Loch about 1-mile north of Ullapool on the A835 (probably walkable in the longer daylight). On our first night into Ullapool we came across a great "dog friendly" pub/restaurant called The Ceilidh and we liked the place and the friendly staff and a good menu - we ate there each evening.
The houses in Ullapool are laid out in a fishing village style and east to get around ... hunting down the Tesco Food Store was a challenge So i had to use Google Maps (lol).
Sadly, visiting Ullapool in Late February means that many place are closed but there was enough to occupy us, and of course plenty to do in and around the area:
* Ullapool Hill
* The Bothy Cafe every morning (you can sit in too)
* The Ceilidh Pub each night
* Northerly road trips to:
- Scourie Bay
- Balnakeil Bay
- Durness
- Smoo Caves
* Southern and Western road trips to:
- Applecross
- Corrieshalloch Gorge (is a must do)

Ullapool surprised us, it was not as big as we expected but, that is not a negative, it is a beautiful little town. We had the best fish and chips from a take away. We bought books in a lovely book store near the hotel. The people are lovely and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay there in a beautiful hotel.

Ullapool is a quiet and charming village set on a harbour...
Ullapool is a quiet and charming village set on a harbour where the Stornaway Ferry departs twice a day. It is a very picturesque spot. People are very friendly. The Caladonian hotel has a good restaurant and a lovely tearoom for lunches and snacks. There are several places to enjoy local seafood. I stayed at the Millview B&B which was a short walk from the ferry, and walking distance to the local supermarket. It was a great place and Dawn was a terrific host. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. The bed and bedding were very comfortable.

Pretty little village. Gateway to the isles via the ferry.
Pretty little village. Gateway to the isles via the ferry. Locals were friendly. A great outdoor shop (Ullapool Outdoors) with good walking and camping gear at reasonable prices. Not many coffee shops to be had. It has a supermarket which is very useful. Very few other shops. Some lovely eateries. Also a great place to see the surrounding area.

A lovely little town.
A lovely little town. Very helpful staff at the museum, with great tips on how to spend time in the area. As a result got to attend Chicken Day at Elphick! An absolute delight. The Museum itself was very interesting. Loved the bars at the Argyll and at the Ferry Boat Inn.
The perfect place.
Tucked away off the road out of Ullapool, its the perfect spot to relax for a few days or a quick stop on the NC500.
Owners were great, rooms are clean and some serious OCD touches (toilet paper folded, all the complimentary shampoo/moisturiser bottles facing the same way, everything in line.
Never stayed in such a perfectly presented hotel.
Super super clean.
Breakfast in the morning was perfect and the views of the Loch while you eat are to die for.
As described Ardlair is a really well appointed B&B, with wonderful views over Loch Broom.
The room was very clean and glamorous on a par with a 4 star hotel. Due to current COVID restrictions there wasnt a breakfast available but there was an option for a continental meal and plenty of breakfast snacks and coffees. I loved the wee decanter of whisky, much needed after a long drive.
Thank you for a great place to base our break in Ullapool.
This is a small town center hotel in Ullapool ideally placed for exploring the area. Facilities are what you would expect from a small hotel but the highlight for me was a shower that was hot and strong. The room was clean and comfortable.
Breakfast options were varied with the traditional breakfast front and center.
We had dinner at the hotel two nights in a row - options were OK and well cooked.
Cant beat the view from the front door.
Lots of interesting reviews about this one! My experience was fine. My room was a recently decorated one, so were my 4 friends rooms. Room comfortable - had an issue with the room that the manager sorted out quickly - all the staff I met were helpful. Breakfast typical never-ending chain hotel buffet - all fine. Location good for centre of Ullapool - small place anyway. Parked motorcycles round the back, open car park but seemed fine.
The staff was exceptional! We had car issues and Molly let us use her phone to sort it out. The next day they let us sit in the dining room after we checked out to wait for a car tow.
The location was excellent and the rooms were clean and updated. The bar was fun and busy, and the food in the restaurant was outstanding! We highly recommend The Arch Inn!
The location was okay, with a 15 minute walk into Ullapool. Ullapool itself was rather uninviting, perhaps due to roadworks on the main road, very overpriced e.g £19.99 for fish and chips.
The hotel was very clean and the duvet was particularly soft and comfortable. There was lots of choices of teas and coffees in the room and welcome treats.
Nice, large, comfortable room. Comfortable seating. Large comfortable bed with down duvet. Quiet. Very nice hosts. Access to common room with fireplace. Absolutely delicious breakfast selections, highlighting award winning products from the area. Walking distance from everything in Ullapool. Easy, free parking. Would stay again.
Great setup in a tidy home in a good location. Central to Ullapool, the room was of nice size, with a comfy bed and had a nice size frig. Grocery was nearby and we were provided cookies along with tea/coffee supplies, which was a nice treat!
The hotel is a 2/3 minute walk from the Main Street of Ullapool which is a pleasant walk through town, The choice of breakfast food was excellent and will cover most people’s need, and the staff were excellent
Friendly staff, small but very clean room, excellent evening meal & breakfast, although We thought that it was a bit overpriced at £150/ night
When we got an excellent hotel at Ullapool for the same price.
The room was comfy, modern and clean. The shower was amazing, hot and good pressure. There was parking right outside the hotel and staff was lovely. The breakfast room overlooked Ullapool harbour.
Great location within easy walking distance to Ullapool. The hotel was immaculate and decorated to a high standard with a huge sitting room overlooking Loch Broom.A very good choice for breakfast.
The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel was in an excellent location both in terms of a base for exploring NW Scotland and access to the ferry to Stornoway. Breakfast was goo value.
The view from the hotel was just idilic - over Loch Broom with a mountainous backdrop.
The rooms were comfortable and did was delicious. We really appreciated that they were dog friendly too.
The hosts were very helpful and accommodating, with the ferry service being disrupted. The breakfast served was very good, the location was wonderful.
When in Ullapool, book the Riverside!
Chris and her husband were excellent friendly hosts. Lovely clean rooms paired with an excellent breakfast in the morning. Very convenient and a short walk to the main Ullapool waterfront.
