This pousada is 1.5 km from the old part of Paraty. For us, it was not a problem since we preferred to take a walk along the canal in the evenings to and from our favourite restaurants and pubs situated in the downtown area of Paraty.
This is a very neat, new, well-maintained, and very clean pousada with a very welcoming staff. Air conditioning is available everywhere. Plugs are also available in the room (not near the bed, though!).
The rooms are acceptable in size, with a large, comfortable double bed. Cleaning in the room and bathroom was done on a daily basis. Shower pressure was acceptable, and hot water was provided via an instant hot water electric generator (like we noticed in most of the pousadas in Brazil). Hot water at the sink is not available. We have asked for a room overlooking the rear courtyard since, on the roadside, the noise from the street would not be acceptable to us. Windows does not offer soundproofing in Brazil, as we have noticed in many pousadas; therefore, it would be good to carefully select your location.
Flat 40" TV with already-available Netflix so that we could follow our favourite TV series. The Internet in the room on TV is via cable; therefore, everything played smoothly.
Parking places are available in front of the pousada and away from city traffic. Security cameras monitor the property around the clock, and a pool inside Pousada's courtyard is also available and included in the price only for guests.
A small but efficient fridge we had in the room.
The property has its own back-up generator therefore in case of blackouts in the area everything is still runing smoothly autonomously. A big plus!
In case you have forgotten to buy water or juices from outside, this pousada can sell you water and non-alcohol beverages.

Paraty is surrounded by emerald green forests attached to mountains that plummet directly into turquoise waters or white-sand beaches. The cobblestone streets and colonial houses of the city centre pay homage to its Portuguese roots, and accessible islands and secluded beaches lure the sun-seeking crowds.
White buildings decorated with colourful door arches and window surrounds line the small lanes of the historic old town. The 17th-century First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies watches over the shaded eastern meeting point of Matriz Square.
North of the canal are Pontal and Jabaquara beaches that are split by the Perpetual Defender fortress, built by the British in the 18th century. Hiring a boat will take you out to more remote islands like diving hot spot Ilha dos Meros or unspoilt Paraty-Mirim Beach, south of the city.
As part of Brazil’s Costa Verde coast, the nearby Gold Trail and Serra da Bocaina National Park highlight the native Atlantic forest and fauna such as the sloth.
Whether you are seeking a peaceful nature retreat, beachside guest house or city centre hostel, Booking.com has an option for you.

Unlike any other colonial town in Brazil, Paraty is by the seashore. It is very well preserved. There is much to do even in cloudy days, like visiting the rain forest and showering in the waterfalls.

Paraty is a magical place. Worthwhile the trip.
Paraty is a magical place. Worthwhile the trip. I visited the place in 2004 and now again after 20 years. Much has changed (many more shops and lots of boats), but the essence of the historical center and the magnificent bay did not. It will make you happy.

Paraty is a little bit of heaven.
Paraty is a little bit of heaven.
I love the water, the beaches, the islands and the jungle. Hire a boat and explore!
Every night the city is a block party with tables in the street and music spilling out of restaurants.
Don't miss the historical museum.

It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian.
It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian. A beautiful town with a historic center. The city has various nice restaurants (but usually quite pricy) and shops.
Since it’s not in the mountains, it’s easier to visit than for example ouro preto.

I think 1 or 2 nights is just right.
I think 1 or 2 nights is just right. It is nice to do a layover in Paraty because on the bus ride to and from (Rio/Sao Paulo) you can see quite a bit of the smaller towns and nature. If you did a bus direct from SP to Rio it would stick to the main highways and you wouldn't see as much. Worth a visit if you have time but keep in mind everything will be slightly more expensive as local tourists also like coming here. There are also lots of festivals so depending if you like festivals you could time your trip to coincide with one of them. During my stay there was a gastronomy festival which was pretty cool. They had cooking demonstrations and free samples of stuff.

Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam.
Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam. It is just 4 streets of colonial buildings with arrogant people. It is marketed extremely well as you believe that Paraty is a village of only colonial buildings however to our surprise they have added (obviously quite some time ago) more buildings and a bigger village the new town shall we call it. It is full of homeless people and danger the floor is disgusting and the people are intimidating. The supermarket is poorly built shed with insects everywhere and extremely overpriced. we left a day earlier than planned as we could not wait to escape the hell hole.
I booked for a single night and now wish so much to go back to Paraty to spend more time at Fernanda's place. The house is such a joy, I was there with family and we all had a great, relaxing time. Everything tidy, with a great eco-friendly vibe (composting etc). Hammocks and outdoor couches surrounded by fruit trees and birds are awesome to chill outside. A 15-20min walk in a safe neighborhood is all that takes to reach the old city, so the location is a great tradeoff between relaxing while being near the main attractions
This is a nice Pousada close to everything in the centre. Just few minutes away from the bus station (both the main one for inter-city buses, and the smaller one, for local transport), from restaurants and shops. The room is spacious enough, clean and with space for personal items. Good breakfast, typical Brazilian style. The staff is super careful and always ready to assist. We appreciated the way they treat their guests.
We loved our stay in Gaia Gardens Pousada. I liked the design/style with a lot of plants, flowers, and a lot of green with great attention to detail. The room is spacious, with a delicious breakfast, and a very cozy swimming pool. Lucy, the owner, is very friendly and makes my parents and myself feel at home. She advised us of some tours to do in Paraty and surrounds. I highly recommend Gaia Gardens Pousada.
We couldn’t have been more happy with our choice. Casa Simone is a little oasis in the middle of Paraty, and we were so lucky to have it all to ourselves. It’s a beautifully renovated colonial building, the rooms are super clean and comfortable, and the staff is outstanding. We also very much enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace in the morning. We can wholeheartedly recommend Casa Simone!
Nice hotel area with lovely gardens and beautiful houses for the guest rooms. Two great pools - out in the sun and inside a pool house. Calm area, but in short walking distance from village center where there are restaurants, pubs, shops, sights and all we wanted to do and see. Also, Paraty feels - and is - a lot safer than many other places in Brazil.
Beautiful romantic bangalos very well furnished and the hotel is surrounded by nature feels like a mini jungle with a pool. Very good location 10 min by car from the center. Transport can be provided by the hotel all day. Kaio and Camila are so nice they were very helpful with all arrangements and tips. I highly recommend staying with them in Paraty.
An amazing stay! The location is at the heart of Paraty historical center. The room had all the comforts of any 5 stars hotel while maintaining a colonial feel with modern Brazilian decoration. The staff was super friendly and the facilities of the hotel were excellent. What a pleasure to look out the balcony to the streets and the sky of Paraty!
Lisbella our host made sure we had the most relaxing time. Her pousada is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and wonderfully decorated. The breakfast is outstanding. The pousada is located on the outskirts which means total quietness. A beautiful pool on the grounds when returning from strolling in Paraty. Truly paradise.
Great breakfast.
Central but quiet location.
The morning we checked out, we left our bags at the hotel to spend another day out on a boat in the bay. In the evening, when we got back to the hotel to claim our bags, the staff gave us towels and let us shower off by the pool, even though we had already checked out.
A very clean apartment. The hotel itself is intimate and quiet, located a bit outside the center, but a nice walk to the center takes 10 minutes. The hostess, Beata was very helpful both in organizing local trips and in organizational matters (laundry, etc.) When I am back in Paraty I will use this hotel.
We stayed Hereford 3 nights.the location is perfect. You can walk to the center in less than 15min.
It’s in front of the beach where you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset.
The Pousada itself is dry charming and just what you need in paraty if you are exploring the city and neighboring beaches.
The Pousada had an amazing vibe, a unique patio and the most delicious breakfast. Everyone was super attentive and nice. It was a quick stay but so worth it! The location in the centro de Paraty was ideal to explore the city at night and during the day.
The place is clean, nicely decorated, good selection of breakfast options. The common areas offer a nice view as the place is slightly elevated above the street level. The hotel offers complimentary afternoon tea and coffee which is a nice touch.
Everything was great. Very charming hotel with great location and friendly staff. There was some noise in our room due to repairs but the hotel staff upgraded us to a room where we weren’t impacted.
Great little pousada with super friendly staff. Value for money indisputably super. Location is on a side barn and it is a little walk into the center of Paraty (as indicated in the description).
It’s a beautiful hotel! great view everywhere you turn with nature and even the color of the buildings! I enjoyed staying there! The support staff was nice and welcoming, enjoyed the breakfast!
