Great location when traveling with a pet. Was only there for a night stay while making a long drive. Rooms are a little outdated but still found very comfortable. Also had direct access to outside, which was great with the dog. Staff was friendly and helpful.

On the banks of the Fulda River in Germany’s Hessen region, Kassel had to be rebuilt after World War II, when most of the city’s architectural history was destroyed. Despite the destruction, Kassel still features many prominent landmarks such as Kassel Königsplatz public square, the Astronomic-Physical Center at Orangerie and the splendid Kassel Town Hall.
Separating the city from the surrounding Hawk Forest is the stunning Wilhelmshöhe Palace and the adjoining Wilhelmshoehe Bergpark which features picturesque gardens, museums and the Ball House at the Wilhelmshoehe Palace.
Kassel has a variety of dining and entertainment options from the traditional Brauhaus to local and international restaurants, to appealing bars and cafés in the vicinity of Königsplatz Kassel.
The must-see museums of the city are the 18th-century Kunsthalle Fridericianum, the oldest public museum in Europe, and the famous fairytale Brothers Grimm Museum, who once called Kassel home.
Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation options in Kassel and across the Hessen region. Kassel Central Station offers direct routes to cities such as Frankfurt, Warburg and Eichenberg.

The Weihnachsmarkt had a very nice atmosphere with good food and drinks. The city center has all the usual shops. Grimmwelt is a very extensive museum with a nice (but expensive) restaurant.
The annoying thing about Kassel is that they close a lot of things during certain periods of time. This is the second time we went and the planetarium was closed on both occasions (March and December). The Marmorbad was also closed. In March a few of the museums were closed.
If you want to go for a swim we recommend the Auebad. Mind, though, that the slides close in the evening (Kassel tradition, I guess?).

City itself is not so remarkable, but the downtown area and the Christmas market are nice. We stopped briefly at the Grimm World Museum but didn't have time to go through it. We found some good restaurants.

I've been to Kassel three times, each time for Documenta.
I've been to Kassel three times, each time for Documenta. I love the city, though it's hard to put into words exactly why. It has a great mix of the modern and the old (though mostly modern, because of its being unfortunately bombed during WWII), and lots of greenery (parks etc). Great public transportation. Lots of cultural stuff going on.
On the other hand, I think they should improve their bicycle lanes: they're often mixed use on the sidewalk, but it's not always clear where (or if) the bicycles should be riding.

Big disappointment for us, the centre of the city is ugly and extremely dirty, I will never go there again.
The only thing which seems to be nice here is the Mountain Park Wihelmshöhe which is really beautiful!
This was our first visit to Kassel and Hotel Gude was suggested as a place to stay as it was near to the location of a family wedding which we were attending.
We loved everything about the hotel: the staff were very helpful and accommodating; for example providing us with a kettle to use in our room and enabling us to store our luggage on a night we spent away from the hotel; the room was large and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was superb.
If we visit Kassel again we will definitely stay at this hotel.
The location is just spot on. Close to the train station and just a stroll away from the city centre.
While the premises are obviously dated, they are kept in great condition by the staff. The rooms and bathrooms (as well as all the common areas) are spot on and there is really nothing to complain about.
The rooms are generously sized. This is an upside or an aged hotel - modern ones either do not have such a large rooms or charge many times more.
The staff was friendly and attentive.
Breakfast is perfect. The breakfast room is beautiful, huge, super bright, with outdoor space, in a little garden. Typical traditional German breakfast, with a perfect buffet and a large variety. I recommend this hotel. But be careful, it's not a 5 star hotel. But it is the perfect hotel in Kassel. The location is perfect, with 2 Tram lines, from the main railwail station (Whilhelmshöhe) to the city center although you can walk to the city center (10 minutes).
Room was very clean. WiFi was very good. They provided bottled drinking water, which not many hotels in Germany do.
It may not be near the Wilhelmhöhe station that you should go to but tramways come often and the stop is not far from the hotel. Failed to try the very good value-for-money breakfast guests have been raving about because we had to leave earlier than when the breakfast starts.
The location of this hotel is amazing. It is right next to the train stop and you can get a ticket for free usage of public transport at the reception for the time of your stay. It is close to most of the city attractions. The view was amazing( of the Friedenkirche). The room was spacious and clean. It may not be really modern, but good for the price. The staff was friendly and helping.
Even though the hotel was built in 1905, it still felt very new; great use of technology, recently remodeled. Very personable staff, or of this world breakfast. Quiet neighborhood, great place to explore the UNESCO Hercules monument. The Palmenbad Hotel has my highest recommendation for any residence needs in Kassel.
A charming small hotel, with only a dozen rooms. The room (top floor) was generously sized, and very comfortable, with a nice view. Great location, right next to the entrance to the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe (a UNESCO heritage site). Very nice breakfast. Friendly and and courteous staff.
So far it was the best Hotel that we stayed at in Germany. The room was so clean and it was big. We love that we have a balcony in our room. And the Breakfast was so good that we really enjoyed it. If ever we'll be coming back to Kassel. We'll still be choosing this hotel.
The room was very large, clean, and overlooked the park, making for a peaceful night’s sleep. Check in was automated and easy. The hotel is near the tram line, but far enough from the road that you don’t hear them. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable.
It’s ok , I wouldn’t stay here again, staff very nice spotless clean BUT room was old small and smelt very strange , and to be honest it was exspensive, and yes it’s high season ,if it was me I would challenge the city of Kassel to tidy the street up , i
- Large airy room with comfortable bed

- Centrally located in Kassel

Good hotel nearby to visit the "Wilhelmshöhe": you can go by foot and take a path near the hotel.
Good breakfast. Very nice restaurant with really good food: try the "lachstartar"!
Friendly staff.
The location is close to the highway, so it is possible to avoid traffic jams in the city when commuting in the direction of Baunatal. Close to park and also shopping centre in walkable distance.
Close to Park Wilhelmshöhe, i.e., an excellent starting point for smaller hikes. Friendly staff and good coffee. Moreover, there is a nice restaurant available at the ground floor.
The room is clean with free gas water, and breakfast is nice. Front desk staff are very friendly and it can be one of the best hotels I have experienced in Germany!
Beautiful hotel with delicious food and drinks. Spa area with everything you need. Close to the city center with comfy beds. Very polite and attentive Staff.
