An interesting area with things to see.
An interesting area with things to see. The Hastings caves were wonderful and the Tahune Adventures Airwalk is great too. It's a bit hard to find a coffee and something to eat at times, if you don't plan ahead.Guest review byWakeyAustralia - 10.0

Dover is a wonderful place, fairly small, and it is easy to get around if you have your own transport. It has an RSL Club and a very well stocked IGA. There are also a couple of cafes. The town is close to a number of Tourist Attractions such as the Hastings Caves and the Huon Valley. It is a great part of the world!!!Guest review byWebber - 6.0

We enjoyed a good meal at the Bush Inn pub which was a stroll from the property .It's claim to fame is it's Australia's oldest continuously operating licensed hotel, established in 1815. There is a bit of history around New Norfolk and a pleasant river walk.Guest review byBeverlyAustralia - 8.0

The cabin was very nice but you will need to bring prepared food as the brochures provided in the cabin, for local fooderies were very outdated. The bedding was clean but worn out . Great washing machine. Lovely bathroom. Kettle, toaster and microwave provided. The view was gorgeous with the current autumnal colours of the trees around the very pretty house in front. A wee bit of a vacuum to the two comfy chairs on the verandah would be great. Maybe a cover to keep them clean. Guests would appreciate that.Guest review byLauraAustralia - 10.0
The village is beautiful.
The village is beautiful. The people are friendly and helpful. You have the Junee Cave Track beautiful walk (we only walk part of the way as it was getting late), the Tyenna River, heaps of history. It was only a short stay so was not able to see everything. We will leave that for our next stay there which will be longer :-)Guest review byAnonymousAustralia - 10.0

It’s located in a very nice area of Tasmania and reasonably close to Hobart.(less than 40 kilometres) Surrounded by mountains and orchards on the Huon river. We made the easy drive down as far as Dover and also enjoyed the Tahune tree top air walk.Guest review byDoug.Australia - 6.0

In the listing it seems as though you can hire kayaks from Pedder wilderness Lodge to access the lake, however it is only once you arrive that it becomes clear that the only way to access the lake is through a different company who do guided 3 hour tours at a whopping $150 pp. Very misleading and ridiculously expensive. I've never paid $150 per night for a holiday experience anywhere else where as the paying customer I have been expected to remove the pool cover of a 30m lap pool by myself and then replace it when finished, or to disarm alarm systems and turn lights on for common areas such as the recreation centre where the pool was. The location of this property is spectacular and the staff were lovely but I would probably not go back to this venue. The owners are lucky they have the only property "in town" because any competition would force them to close. For the price of this property I expected more. Or at least what they advertise - live music, kayaks, board games that aren't broken, things for kids to do etc. But as is the case with most holiday venues in Tasmania - kids are never catered for properly, if at all.Guest review byErinAustralia - 10.0

Everyone we encountered were helpful & friendly, our hosts were most considerate friendly & ensured we had everything we needed quietly and efficiently without fuss. Our accommodation was outstanding and there were numerous activities in the surrounding areas to participate in if we were interested.Guest review byMaryAustralia - 10.0
Wish we had have stayed for longer.
Wish we had have stayed for longer. Host was absolutely beautiful and made an extra effort with all of her small touches to make this a truly memorable stay. Will definitely stay here again, spending time using the kayaks on the river and relaxing in this peaceful location. Highly recommend Hamilton Pub 1826 for dinner and Aunty Vs cafe for coffee. Great place to stay of hiking at Mount Field.Guest review byBelindaAustralia - 8.0
Franklin is a great base to explore along the Huon River.
Franklin is a great base to explore along the Huon River. There are many great surprises to be found when taking a casual drive and so many wonderful places to eat! So many little parks that are also great for picnics. Great fresh fruit can be purchased at any number of roadside stops. Very picturesque!Guest review byKarenAustralia
