Beautiful town with plenty of great restaurants to try!
Beautiful town with plenty of great restaurants to try! We stayed for 6 nights and it was a brilliant base for exploring other towns in the area. There is not a huge amount of shopping in Vitre if this is what you are after but some lovely bars to visit in the evening! We spent one day exploring Vitre itself and this was plenty. Small food market on a Tuesday which is nice if you want to pick up a couple of items for lunch!

Very pretty town with lots of interesting buildings: many timber-framed and some with arcades. Ramparts. Impressive chateau and museum. Good restaurants - try "Pieds Sous la Table" for a very good, very reasobaly priced menu.

Breakfast was continental buffet style and very good. The hotel is in the heart of Vitre very close to the historic centre. The proprietor was very helpful and recommended a place to eat and it was excellent (actually next door La Table de Vitre).
