Being our first visit to Lightning Ridge, we weren't sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised by both the town and 'Sonja's'. We were 'upgraded' to Unit 6 - 'The Shed' and it was exactly that! A car garage / garden shed which had been cleverly converted into a pleasant, multi-room holiday unit. It was quirky but fun and, most importantly, comfortable and homely. The grounds of the main premises out front were also really nice and it was evident through both its presentation and the great communication we received from first booking that the owners are really proud of their business and their community. 'Sonja's' certainly helped enhance our experience of 'the Ridge'.

We had a whole house to ourselves and the property is very clean, expertly appointed and very comfortable. We used the bbq to cook meat from the local butcher. The property has thought of everything that you would want for a multiple night stay.

Marja is an excellent host. Very caring and committed to her guests' comfort. Asked our thoughts and any suggestions we may have. Really wanted honest feedback which we gave openly and willingly. Suggested sightseeing spots and places to eat, very helpful with little hints eg how great the Tourist Info place is - a MUST visit early in your stay, to efficiently manage to see as many as possible. "The Hut" is really in town but doesn't feel like it as there's empty space around us as well, being on the edge of town. Extremely clean and very comfy. No neighbourhood or street noise - BLISS! Marja even turned on the best sunsets way out there in the outback!

The cottage had all you could need, the kitchen very well equipped, we cooked up a great meal & was happy to see a dishwasher! Lots of space. The outside areas were lovely, such a shame we had rain the whole time we were there so we could not use them. The caretaker was wonderful, she gave us the Lightening Ridge experience & the best hospitality for sure! A great little home away from home.

The park was very clean and well organised. Our cabin was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. The park was close to the artesian bore baths which we used frequently. The kitchen was well stocked and all items were in good working order.

My cabin was amazing! It was spacious and a bit of luxury for a solo traveller. It had a great kitchen area and everything worked as it should. The bathroom and shower were straight out of a show house. So beautiful and fit perfectly with the rest of the cabin!! The bed was soooooooo comfy and perfect t for my lazy day while it was raining outside. The staff were fabulous and helpful too. The laundry facilities were great too. I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend my birthday!!!!!

Stayed in a 2BR cabin for 3 nights, just 2 of us but these cabins offer a small deck and a bit more space for only a few dollars more. The park is a classic Big4 top park. Amenities blocks are very well equipped, clean and functional. There is a large bad weather pavilion and multiple camp kitchen areas. The pool is large and partly covered and very clean. Cabins have fully equipped kitchens, large fridges and are comfortable. A joy to stay at. Oh, and the Artesian pool (40 C) is only 200 metres down the road .
