Self-Catering Accommodations in Winterton

A superb location. The cottage was spacious, clean and comfortable with full amenities. Stunning view of the beautiful mountains from our cottage patio. We especially enjoyed listening to and watching the birds around the lakes. A tranquil and peaceful getaway. Absolutely recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Tugela River Lodge. The service was warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout, which made the stay feel relaxed from the moment we arrived. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Being able to swim and kayak in the river was a real highlight, and the walking trails were excellent. Early mornings were especially memorable, with the sun coming up as the mist and morning dew slowly lifted over the landscape. What made it even better was that we could take our five Yorkies with us. They enjoyed the river, trails, and open space just as much as we did. It is rare to find a place that is this peaceful, scenic, and genuinely pet-friendly. We left feeling rested and grateful. We would happily return and recommend Tugela River Lodge to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing break in nature.

The house and surroundings are exceptionally beautiful! This is a must visit type of place for anyone traveling to or through the area. The house is modern and cosy with everything you need to be comfortable. It is amazing to be surrounded by wildlife without leaving the house. With such great hospitality to top it all off. I will definitely be visiting again!

Calmy located in the nature. Cottage is equipped with a modern kitchen and two nice outdoor beanbags.

I love the privacy, the space, and it has everything a person could need

The house was well equipped and comfortable. The wildlife surrounding the house was outstanding.

We stayed at Protea Cottage, which is well-equipped and comfortable. It's located at the end of the R600, near the entrance to Monk's Cowl area of the Drakensberg. You can access many nice trails directly from the cottage. The view from the porch is glorious, especially at sunset. Cathkin Park is a great location, and we easily filled our 6 days there. We went ziplining, hiking, swimming in the streams, horseback riding at uShaka, and saw the Falcon Ridge Bird of Prey show. We unfortunately missed whitewater rafting and the Boys Choir show. Leslie communicated thoroughly ahead of time about check-in and other details so there were no surprises. We also loved that it was off the grid, but with the solar panels, who noticed? The kitchen had all the necessary items, including a camp toaster and a French press for coffee. Lindsey and Brett don't live on site, but they stopped by a couple of times, and they were friendly and helpful. Their caretakers were there daily and kept everything in good order.

Great location, very clean and comfortable. The two bottles of very reasonable wine provided on an "honesty box" basis was thoughtful and much appreciated!

Excellent l, very clean, warm and comfortable a home away from home

The Location was the best if you are looking for serene, peaceful, in touch with nature. We loved every moment, and were fortunate to see the Giraffe, Zebras as well as a multitude of bird life and buck. Sarah was an amazing host, easy to reach, and always willing to assist. The little touches of home that she has added to the place do not go unnoticed, we loved the comfort and ambience of the accomodation. The best place to unwind and let the peace and calm take over!
