This is a perfect choice for your hiking, skiing, onsen, snow or simply relaxing trip in Zao Onsen. -Location is the best, i literary removed my skis in front of the hotel door after the last slope. The hotel provides space to dry your boots and gloves and store your gears/skis. This hotel is the perfect hotel for skiers and snowboarders. It is in front of multiple gondolas and ski-lifts in Zao Onsen resort. Nearby there are restaurants, ski rental shops and many public bath / Onsen. The hotel is 15 minutes walk to a convenience store ( Lawson) and I personally walked 15 minutes from Zao Onsen bus station to the hotel when I first arrived. - Room was comfortable, spacious, warm and simple. The temperature can be adjusted with an heather. It wasn’t my first time sleeping on the Japanese Futon, and I love it every time. if you want to enjoy Japanese culture this is a good start! Wifi works perfectly. -bathrooms are clean and never crowded. -Staff is wonderful. Ryo and the lady working in the hotel are super kind and sweet. They are very nice and helpful. They will help you in everything you need during your stays. They will recommend you the best onsens, how to rent your skis, how to get your ski pass ticket, how to get to the top on the mountain in 45 minutes like a Japanese to see the snow monsters! To get to the hotel there a many buses during the day from Yamagata station to Zao Onsen bus terminal. From the bus terminal I waked to the hotel with my bag and boots and is not difficult for me even with lots of snow on the road. But there are some taxis to book. Thank you, see you soon

Right next to the gondola, a short 1 minute walk. I skied to the G Square entrance after an awesome day on the slopes. There's a few bar/restaurants right next door. My room overlooked one of the runs. I could see the lifts and gondola from my room. Spacious bedroom with shared bathroom and sink just outside. Onsen downstairs. Dry room to leave my boots and snowboard overnight. Walking distance from the Bus terminal and the shops.

Awesome dinner choices! Friendly staff and helpful! Quick pick up with nice car type snowmobiles from tram! Amazing scenery! Beautiful old hotel! Can get to snow lift easy so close.

One of the best ryokans we’ve stayed at in Japan. The location feels straight out of a Ghibli movie, with over 300 years of history and an amazing atmosphere. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed some of the best Japanese food each day at the ryokan restaurant. Since both me and my partner have tattoos, we booked the private onsen every evening through reception. The real highlight was the staff. They went above and beyond to make our stay special, spoke good conversational English, and checked in daily to ensure everything was perfect. Highly recommended for an authentic, cozy ryokan experience!

Pension Puutaro er staðsett í aðeins 1 mínútu göngufjarlægð frá Zao Onsen-skíðasvæðinu og býður upp á herbergi í japönskum stíl, franskan kvöldverð og ókeypis Wi-Fi Internet. location is very good, right outside the ropeway and chairlifts. ladyboss is super friendly and helpful. i wasnt well and skipped breakfast, she hand grated apples and gave me an energy drink to help my indigestion! I'm really grateful for her help and concern. she also gave us ticket to the public onsen. 😍 thank you so much, we had a wonderful time.

Guesthouse Mintaro Hut býður upp á einföld herbergi, ókeypis afnot af eldhúsi og ókeypis Wi-Fi Internet hvarvetna á gististaðnum. Ókeypis þvottaaðstaða er í boði. I absolutely loved this place. I especially enjoyed the nightly dinners where the host would cook a buffet-style meal for the guests. You're welcome to contribute as much (or as little) as you like via a payment box. No pressure. Dinners were delicious and very healthy, consisting mostly of vegetable-forward dishes. The owner, staff, and cat were wonderful.

Zao Kokusai Hotel er í aðeins 1 mínútu göngufjarlægð frá Zao Onsen-skíðasvæðinu og býður upp á rúmgóð hveraböð bæði inni og úti og herbergi í japönskum stíl. Clean … I like the massage chair inside the room.

Yamagata Zao Pension Aplon Stage er staðsett í náttúrulegu landslagi og býður upp á friðsælt athvarf. The pension was cozy and 3 minutes by car to the nearest ski lift. The host family, including their dog Momo, was very welcoming.
