Spacious and comfortable rooms, fully equipped kitchen, excellent staff (they even let us check in early). Perfect location, plus billiards and a pool. Everything was just wonderful!

No interaction was needed with anyone during check-in and out as they had a very efficient digital system in place but you can tell the owners have put a lot of heart and soul into the building. The room was spacious and finished to a really high standard, including the bathroom. We had the room at the end so had a beautiful view out onto Mt Shasta. Great café under the hotel is also worth a visit for some pastries before heading out to explore. They also had some good suggestions for food. We went to Yak Shack which was just in the process of being rebranded to Drizzle and that is worth a visit if you like a burger!

The property is amazing - looks lite it came out of a fairy tale. The people are very polite and friendly. The breakfast was absolutely the best we ever had in any hotel, in the US or abroad. Black Bear Lodge is situated in South Lake Tahoe, roughly 0.8 km from the lake and 1.6 km from The Gondola at Heavenly. All rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV and a gas fireplace. We were so amazed by how beautiful and comfortable the property is. We can’t recommend it enough
