The location (quiet and surrounded by plenty of untouched nature), the design and architecture of the hotel, the breathtaking view from our (panoramic) room, the cleanliness, the amenities, complimentary toiletries and snacks, the warmth of the staff. The food was mind-blowing (both at breakfast and dinner). The complimentary welcome drinks and nibbles and the daily activities available were a really nice touch. The overall attention to detail and thoughtfulness that goes into it all is seriously outstanding. Frankly THE best hotel we've ever stayed at. We have not stopped recommending it to friends and family since.

Casas da Lapa er nútímalegt hótel sem er fullkomlega staðsett á hæð, innan Serra da Estrela-náttúrugarðsins. Það er staðsett í dæmigerðu fjallaþorpi, Lapa dos Dinheiros. The best staff we’ve ever experienced, super pro and friendly! The location is amazing, you can have a stroll to the beautiful forest through the lovely village and a river, and the path is good for little kids. Perfectly quiet place, beautiful surroundings (the waterfall 🤍), delicious food, great spa. Want to be back!

Found this place somewhat randomly and spent 3 night in their basic rooms, with the deck. The architecture, interior design, food, and most importantly service were impeccable and very high value for the money we spent. Especially the staff.. they went above an beyond to make sure you felt welcome and pampered. Great location if you want to spend a bit of time away and up in the mountains (hills) of Portugal. Highly recommended. p.s. We did make a stop for dinner at the higher rated (5 star) hotel owned by the same group. This location compared to that felt nicer. Both the interior design and people felt a lot warmer here.
