The afternoon front desk person was very helpful. He got us an extra bed and fans for our warm rooms and made suggestions for a trip to the Mummelsee. It was also nice we got rooms next to each other. Achern has some very nice restaurants and shopping if you have time to look around. The breakfast room on the 4th floor is bright and cheery and has an nice selection of breakfast items.

The city itself has many charming shopping areas and restaurants. The city park (Stadtsgarten) is a treasure with walking trails, a small lake, and a creek running through it. Achern is within a half hour's drive to the Black Forest and also to Strassbourg and Alsace, France. There is wine and schnapps tasting locally.
