La Bourboule was nice in the evening with the restaurant lights on and the snow on the ground. Galapagos restaurant was nice and the food was good. The local bakers had nice cakes and coffee. A lovely easy town, ideal for families. Some of the big old hotels from previous generations are closed forever, some in ruins, and yes Mont-Dore is also good with more restaurant choices but MD is a bit crammed, lots busier.La Bourboule has more space and has easy free parking everywhere. Loved it.... and the tourist info people are excellent Cafe Francais is one of a row of bars/ restaurants and is spot on. A nice place to visit the greater area and hike. The city itself is cute and small, but most of the best rated restaurants we tried were equally slow, mediocre and overpriced. Everyone is polite, but almost everywhere you go you get a feeling that people are doing you a favor by letting you be there.
