Excellent choice of restaurants and shops, fairly expensive but affordable. Beach is pebble/shingle and sunbeds very expensive. Recommend trip to next resort Villefranche Sur Mer, which has a lovely sandy/shingle beach and harbour with good restaurants and bars. Take a walk up Castle hill for a great view of the area. Nice is the perfect south of France home base! I loved its mix of city, old town and beach. There’s lots to see, do and eat, and the water is just stunning. The city is also so easy to navigate, making it feel safe for female and solo travelers! Old town has nice buildings but below average compared to many other beautiful cities in France. Small. Beach has nice water and restaurants but pebbles. I wouldn't go there for the beach. We stayed one night because we were dropping someone off at the airport. Otherwise, knowing France very well, I wouldn't have bothered. Lots of restaurants to choose from, I would recommend you head to the Oldtown as the service and choice is better than the main street. Trams and transport network are fantastic. An incredible place with a vibrant atmosphere both day and night. After spending a full week exploring and enjoying Nice around the clock, I never once felt unsafe. Such a welcoming and secure city! My stay in Nice was destroyed by the thief who stole my wallet with all in it while I boarded the train after we left our rental car at the airport. I think it is a scandal how bad the airport transport to the city is (not) organized, even if they spend a fortune to make the tram and the new station. It is impossible to pay for the tram into the city (even French travellers gave up), and the Agustin station is apparently swarmed with pickpocket gangs, as I was told once I found out in the train that was robbed. It is a total mess. And the robberies appear to be same in the city, as the receptionist in our hotel told us. I did not realize how unsafe this town is, and rather go not back there.Guest review byAnonymous
