Loved the location of Mure Beppu. It is opposite a mall and fronts a main road, but the rooms are quiet and peaceful for sleeping. The room was so much larger than expected with thoughtful touches - face products on top of the usual toiletries. We loved the onsen in our room which was massive for two. There’s also private onsen on the roof that can be booked by hotel guests. The cafe downstairs (which shares a space with the hotel lobby) serves a good coffee/matcha drink with dango, a particular highlight are the outdoor seating with a foot onsen!

The seven hells of Beppu (Jigoku) are really great to fill a day. You can have a nice walk along the shoreline and the mall near the bay offers a great shopping opportunity. There are a few good restaurants that you can enjoy. The neighborhood around the Jigoku is quite nice, the rest of Beppu not so much. Two or three days are enough for this town.

We didn't have enough time to see other onsen areas.
We didn't have enough time to see other onsen areas. We did not rent a car so we traveled by bus. We did not get to see the onsen areas as I did want to try some of the other ryokan onsens. The only problem I had was with the stools that you sit on to swcrub yourself.

I really enjoyed the hot springs!
I really enjoyed the hot springs! I went to Hyotan Onsen and did the hot springs and sand bath. the sand bath was a little underwhelming but the hot springs was perfect! there was also a waterfall bath which was a nice experience. the sand bath was a "do it yourself" situation where you dig a hole and cover yourself. it was nice; i recall i fell asleep. It was a little underwhelming; i would do just the hot springs again though! Also, the sand bath area was kind of small and co-ed, 7-8 rows and probably fit 4 people per row. Other than that, Hyotan had a dining restaurant and tried the cold ramen; refreshing after a nice hot dip! Getting around Beppu was easy for me. i was mostly around just the hot spring area and the area of the 7 devil hot springs (which i ran out of time and did not get to do all but was happy i got to do at least 5). the area was also kind of hilly... so one may be walking uphill a bit but no big deal, not a steep incline. Overall, Beppu was a great experience and I would come back for the hot springs as it's what the town is known for!

Nice family onsen onsite but there was a small charge.
Nice family onsen onsite but there was a small charge. Breakfast was fabulous. Served in a cubicle for my family of 3. Free basement parking at the hotel and more than sufficient parking lots. Nice also that the bus boy was right at our car once we drove in and helped to carry our bags.

There are only 8 Hells of Beppu to visit. 1-2 days is just right. Plenty of good restaurants in town. Michelin Guide restaurant called "Arabata" is highly recommended. They serve the best beef in town and the price is reasonable!

Beppu is one of the smallest cities I've visited in Japan.
Beppu is one of the smallest cities I've visited in Japan. Surprisingly, many people here speak English due to frequent interactions with non-Japanese visitors. The city is famous for its hot springs, boasting numerous traditional Japanese onsen. During winter, the city takes on a magical and mysterious ambiance due to the steam and mist enveloping it. The locals are friendly and very helpful. While getting around by bus is convenient, taking a walk through the city of spirits is an experience one should miss.
All was very nice. New rooms, feels fresh and joyful, very good facilities, nice onsen and a lovely roof top pool. But the best is the staff - very kind and helpful, very good English. In particular Mao has spend more than an hour helping us with rescheduling hotels and ferry, calling agencies and rebooking, patiently answering all our questions. Big big thanks! Arigato gozaimas!! Looking forward to visiting again Beppu - thanks to your hospitality Beppu is now a very nice memory for us and a place we would like to revisit.
Hotel Seawave is one of the last authentic “Beppu Onsen ♨️” hotels in Beppu. Nothing about this hotel is fake. The rooms are lived in and comfortable. The Onsen is authentic 1980s style with soothing water and a unique “old school” atmosphere. The breakfast 🍳 is outstanding and the checkout time of 11am allows you to bathe, eat, pack and relax slowly and stress free. Awesome 👏🏻 hotel.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Located right next to Beppu JR station. The building is fairly new and the rooms are excellent! The bed was the most generous I've stayed in any hotel in Japan. Big TV Big Bathroom and amazing faciliites. The onsen upstairs was great and clean. Don't forget to check out the outdoor one as well for views of the coast.
The hotel is very well placed within the city, close to the train station and the city center.
The natural hotspring onsen in the hotel is great with an amazing view on Beppu bay and opens early so that you can enjoy the view of the rising sun.
The staff was very nice and friendly. Very good food at breakfast.
This is one of the best hotels we've stayed at in Japan. The room is huge and spotless. We had the private onsen with a fantastic sea view. The staff is very friendly and some of them can speak English. Breakfast has a lot of variety, a mix of Japanese and Western food. Highly recommend staying here!
This is in a great location, right in the Beppu hell's area with one next door. The room was a great size and really comfy. A nice selection of onsens and a good breakfast spread. I had a really great stay here. At the time the price was fantastic for room size and quality of the hotel.
very authentic and beautiful space, walkable around Beppu and close to train station. beautiful peaceful outdoor onsen and I really loved getting to pick out and wear the traditional yukata, such a lovely experience, also the breakfast was delicious
Perfect location (10 min from station) and good value for money, considering the hotel provides its own onsen. Our room was HUGE, which is certainly not the rule in Japan. Good breakfast and welcoming staff at the front desk.
It was absolutely amazong!!!
Hotel next to the station, a lot of restaurants around.
Beppu Onsens just few minutes from the hotel and the top - hotel hot bath inside
Personal speaking english and also very good brakefast.
New hotel and close to Beppu Station. Less than 1 minute walk from station. When check-in you can choose a pillow and pick some amenities from front desk. Big room!!! There is an onsen in the hotel. Easy access to all area.
The staff was so helpful in finding us a private onsen in Beppu. Location was great as it is near the train station.
It was my second time but still happy with the hotel. Breakfast was set but it was deliciously prepared.
The view combined with the onsen put me in such a good mood for the whole time I was in Beppu! I watched the sun rise over the ocean, which was very quiet and peaceful. Affordable pricing, too - I would stay here again.
We stayed 1 night in Nogami Honkan which is 7 minutes away from Beppu Station. Our room was big with tatami beds for 4. We paid 500 yen for private onsens and the morning Japanese breakfast was a wonderful experience.
The hotel views are amazing, if you get the sea-facing rooms. Rooms are spacious. Another big plus is the onsen. There is a big indoor onsen and an outdoor one where you can enjoy the sunset over Beppuwan coastline.
Really Love this place. Comfortable room with private onsen and very helpful staff. Free car parking as requested. Location is great, located near various Jigoku within walking distance. Nice place to stay in Beppu.
Great location right next to the Beppu tower (easy to find) and convenient to the train station and city center bars and restaurants. Great onsen that one would want from a Beppu hotel.
The staff are very friendly. The room is clean and spacious. The bed is comfy. The design and style of the hotel, the view and the private onsen are just amazing.
