For the price and it not being a "franchise", older motel, it exceeded my expectations. Accommodations had been modernized and were clean. the beds were comfortable and the location was quiet. Thankful that there was availability due to it being a last minute booking. We were there due to a late night game that my son had to play in a basketball tournament at The Big House. The service was very nice and friendly.

This place was really great! Clean, well decorated, comfortable mattresses, nice pillows and sheets, full kitchen, two eating areas, screened in porch, sandy beach and boat dock with outdoor grill/picnic area and two kayaks!! We especially loved sunrises and kayaking in the Dora canal with all the birds!! The owner was friendly and attentive to our needs.

this historic hotel was beautiful, charming and cozy. The grounds were lovely and it was walking distance to restaurants and shops.
Tavares is basically in the middle of nowhere. No good places to eat. Amazingly we ate at Applebee's ( which we have not done in 15 years) and it was very good! Tavares was a big disappointment as was Mt, Dora.
Being from Amelia Island Florida, which is lush and beautiful.. I guess we were expecting more. Traveled over to Crystal River, which except for Three sisters Springs, there was nothing there as well, The Holiday Inn Express in Crystal Springs is the best hotel we have stayed at this trip.. New, amazing decor! great Breakfast and spotlessly clean. The room was something from a high end Miami Hotel.

Quiet community, great fishing spots, if you have a boat there are tons of lakes that you can launch on and have a day fishing, sun bathing or just enjoying the water. There are several antique shops and small mom and pop restaurants to try out. If you are stopping for a weekend, or looking for a place to call home, I would look into tavares, Some areas have the big town feel, but you can drive two miles either way and feel like old florida.

Had been many years since visiting Tavares. Wooten Park is a great area to spend time. Plenty to do (ie waterplane rides, restaurants along the Lake, walking/bicycle path). Cross the street to many more restaurants. We were there for a Classic Boat Show and Car Show. Great Venue right on the Lake's edge.

After long and sometime very stressful days, going from the hospital, where sister was in for a broken hip and also a broken arm. On to caring for father who is 94yrs.. Somedays, I went without much sleep or eating properly. Many evenings, I would be greeted by Kaitilin, her red hair is lovely, she just is so likeable and has become like a real close friend.. ,
She helped us better manage our stay at the hotel. We cannot thank her enough. We are here from Northern California and feel like this place has treated us like family..

Beautiful area…train depot-Travares museum was great. Cute little park. Walked the area a few different times with so much to see. Loved sitting out and watching the seaplanes take off and land. Ate at Puddle Jumpers and both staff and food were great.

Loved this quaint little Sea Plane town!
Loved this quaint little Sea Plane town! Lots of restaurants and a cool beach bar (not much beach, but right on the lake)! Beautiful Walking paths right along the lake, Sea Planes flying in and out. Kayak & Paddle board rentals! Take a cruise on a big paddle boat. Close to Mt. Dora, another little lakeside town with lots of shops & restaurants. We at twice at Tiki West, great staff, fresh seafood & yummy Margaritas!
Was supposed to be sent a key code to get into the property. Never received one. Got there I attempted to contact all numbers on the listing and the numbers on the listing no one knew who the owner was or how to contact. Pressed the ring bell several times no one responded. So we had no way to access the property and had to go rent a hotel for the weekend which was double that way we anticipated to pay. Although Booking.com took care of the refund for this property it didn’t help with the extra cost of the hotel that we had to pay.
Located right near the lake, with enough entertainment & food within walking distance to appease the hardiest of partiers. The room was more then spacious enough, having ample open areas for dog crates, cribs, coolers, blow-up mattresses or whatever obstacles you might travel with. Room was very clean & contained nice amenities too. The balcony view—-fantastic. Proportions of the room were very odd, mostly because this clearly was a residential “high rise” before becoming this newly transformed hotel. But it was very roomy!
Breakfast was average. Location ok. Should be told there are 3 buildings & you park & enter in the back. Sketchy. Very old place. Needs numerous upgrades. Noisy at night. Sliding glass door to the balcony didn't open. The plus was The Dog House across the street with their live music & event food. I, personally, would not stay at Key West Resort agai . Not my idea of a resort. Tavares, the town itself, looks really cute.
I loved staying here indeed. The hotel was very close to downtown Tavares and I was able to walk around the city at dawn to take photos. Very comfortable room and great customer service. The ice machine was working perfectly and the parking was right in front of the room.
Had everything you could ever need for a stay and more. The view is the best and all the fishing gear is ready for you to use. Its literally less than a mile to downtown Tavares and all the cool restaurants and coffee shops and activities.
The location is perfect, with several great restaurants and bars on property and otherwise very close. The lake is beautiful, the hotel is very clean. The rooms are large and comfortable. Super pet friendly! Staff was pleasant.
The hotel was well kept and comfy. I was more surprised by the staff. The gentleman that checked me in was nice but the ladies the next day did not even acknowledge me for check out
Excelent hotel, bedroom clean, bed confortable, breakfast was good due plenty of options , fruits, cereal, bread, eggs, ham, juices, coffee, in general excellent hotel and service
