This was our favorite place we stayed out of four locations around Costa Rica. Stunning, lush landscaped grounds, beautiful big porch to enjoy the nature and birds flying around, perfect location on main road in close proximity to La Fortuna and all its attractions and amenities. Our little villa was private, spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a beautiful, huge bathroom. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Located in Fortuna, 2.9 miles from La Fortuna Waterfall, Cabañas del Rio has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking and a garden. This place is made by its people. The manager Leonardo is the soul of this small hotel. Maybe it’s not much fancy and chic but it’s really nice and clear. You have breakfast at the terrace together with colourful birds and squirrels who are having their breakfast. There’s a small but well cared pool. And don’t forget about frog tour with Leonardo.

This tropical hotel is located next to Costa Rica's Arenal Volcano, 3.7 mi from La Fortuna. It offers a natural hot spring, outdoor adventure activities, a luxurious spa and scenic volcano views. Landscaping was excellent, pools are nicely done and breakfast was very good.

Located in Uvita, 8.1 miles from Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary, Ballena Rey Hotel has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Exceptionally good value-for-money. Small (about 14 rooms), modern, hotel in a good location for visiting various places e.g. Catarata Uvita, Nauyaca Waterfalls, Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge. Many evening dining out options in the local vicinity, although the hotel owner told us there are plans to offer an evening meal option at Ballena Rey very soon. We had room 12: good balcony space, with 2 armchairs, small table top and 2 stalls, cacti at each end of the balcony, ceiling fan; the open plan kitchen and living room area was spacious, with air-conditioning and ceiling fan, 2 armchairs, TV, table and 2 chairs and sufficiently equipped kitchen (though 2 rings for cooking would be preferable to the one ring provided) and good-sized fridge/freezer; spacious shower room with hot water (some of the places we stayed at during our 31 night trip didn't have hot water); bedroom - reasonably comfortable bed, hanging and shelf storage space, air-conditioning and ceiling fan, one bedside table. Very good buffet breakfast - the breakfast ladies did a great job and it was lovely to be able to choose what you wanted, how much you wanted, in what order etc. Very good cleaning service provided in the room and in the hotel grounds. Lovely pool, which we made good use of. And the staff were all very friendly! We really enjoyed our stay at Ballena Rey and were sorry to leave.

Discover the charm of Hotel Secreto La Fortuna, a quiet retreat in the heart of Fortuna, Costa Rica. Perfect location in La Fortuna, close to the downtown, very nice property, they put out fruit for the birds so you can watch all the birds in the morning while you eat breakfast. Great breakfast, great staff! Highly recommend!
