It was just right, not too busy and not too quiet, unfortunately the ferry from Campbeltown to Ardrossan had been withdrawn so we had to endure the long journey back which was not in our weekend plan. So if you are coming make sure the ferry is operating.

The town is on the downside of things but back on the way up. The two distilleries in town were excellent: Springbank and Glen Scotia and we toured both. Actually there is a small third one, Glengyle as well. There used to be over 100 distilleries before WW1. This is an area known also for its outstanding salmon and cheese. It's relatively undiscovered by tourists as well. I would recommend it and hope to be back again. Getting around in town was done with taxis.

Campbeltown is a very cozy, and very friendly little town!!!
Campbeltown is a very cozy, and very friendly little town!!! We loved the people there! People would go out of their way to help us with directions or any questions we had. The Harbour is so beautiful, breathtaking!! The town still has an old feel to it with a lot of the original buildings around 1700 to 1800’s still standing and in use!! Gorgeous architecture!! Be sure to tour around town on a rented e-bike or car. Well worth it!!! We had a wonderful stay in Campbeltown!!

I like Campbeltown, it's a lovely place with great food etc.
I like Campbeltown, it's a lovely place with great food etc. and I would encourage more people to visit. It may seem inaccessible as it's so far from everywhere else, so going out of your way to get there is well worth it.

I haven't been to Campeltown for 20 years or so and we visited on our mini tour of southern Scotland. A great base to venture out to Callander, Saddell and Machrihanish.
We ate at No.42. The food is delicious, the staff engaging and welcoming but it's a bit pricey.

Cambeltown is the southern point of the kintyre 66 route.
Cambeltown is the southern point of the kintyre 66 route. It has an interesting working harbour and 2 distilleries to visit. One, Springbank, is right in the middle of the town. Nearby are a couple of golf courses, links I believe. A drive will take you to the Mull of Kintyre lighthouse but once you park there’s a steep hike and the road is challenging and not for long vehicles.
Brilliant location for exploring the South of the Kintyre peninsula, only a short drive from Campbeltown, (or walk/bus if you prefer).
Apartment has everything you need to feel at home, we settled to the place the minute we walked in the door.
Although situated near a road, we had no problem at all with traffic noise, and enjoyed a peaceful sleep every night.
Lovely unobstructed views over fields to the hills.
staff could not have been better. polite and friendly and professional all. owner was main contact and made a number of requested changes to our accommodations with 100 success. the site was lochside with a view of Campbeltown and in the neighborhood of many beautiful homes allowing walking along the shore road. not able to imagine a better setting.
Lovely, clean hotel, great value. Awesome selection of whisky, comfortable rooms, comfortable beds.
Staff were, without exception, all wonderful. Very helpful and engaging, not at all pushy or rude.
I felt my visit there was something they tried to make better at every interaction.
Although the hotel was old fashioned in appearance it did have a lot of charm because of this. I actually thought the rooms looked better than on the website. They were comfortable and a good size . Staff were very friendly and worked hard. Breakfast was basic but adequate.
Kirsteen was welcoming and an incredible host. Great care was shown to present the room in an inviting way. Although the rooms were warm, due to unseasonably warm Scotland weather, they were comfortable and we had everything we needed.
Great base to explore Campbeltown and the surrounding area. Lovely spacious accommodation next to the town centre, ample parking, and large airy breakfast room. loved our stay here and cannot wait to return next year.
We arrived late (after 11 pm) and the manager was gracious enough to come in and get us checked in. The full breakfast was delicious! Nice to have off street parking in the back of the hotel.
Great location with easy access to Campbeltown and surrounds. Garden was lovely and exterior of building is charming. Plenty of space for us all and quick responses on a couple of queries.
