“This would be my 5th time staying at Playa Del Ritmo and here's why.. Firstly the staff. From the first time I arrived they made me feel at home. Within one day everyone knew my name and my favorite drink of choice. 2nd the location; this is the only beachfront hostel in the region, the sea is calm and only 5 yards from the front door of your room. Getting there: The hostel is conveniently located 10 min north of the airport. Taxi is recommended and costs roughly 20k COP (6$ USD). Location: The hostel is located 15 min south of Santa Marta in an area called Pozo Colorado. Directly on the beach and away from the main tourist areas, this is the perfect place to unwind away from the crowds. The weather is generally good as the rains rarely break the mountain range and the geographic position of the beach makes for the best sunsets. Grounds: The grounds are well kept. Vegetation is a mix of native cactus and coconut palm trees. Stone walkways lead from dorm to private room to bar with hammocks and small gardens lining the walkway. Service: Service is top notch, as mentioned earlier the multilingual staff at this hostel pay close attention to customer detail. They provide beach towels, free kayak and SUP usage, suggestions on local sights (Tayrona, Minca etc.) and are also happy to arrange any trips you are interested in taking. Accommodations: Accommodations range from dorm style rooms (4, 6 beds depending) to private rooms with fans to private rooms with A/C and beautiful views of the beach. Rooms and bathrooms are clean, well maintained and beds comfortable. Food/Drink: This hostel is unique as it's restaurant is completely vegetarian (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The options are wide ranging and well prepared. I was able to try a new item every night and was always satisfied. They also have a full service bar serving the usuals along with a range of cocktails, anything you can come up with on your own and a happy hour daily special.”

“Amazing owners! They were super kind, helpful, and accommodating. If you are looking for a posh hostel, this definitely is not the one. If you want cheap and don't mind anything else, then come here for sure! It's hot and stuffy inside, but each bed had its own fan. There are nice social areas outside where there's a cooler breeze. You can store your bags here. There's a communal kitchen that seemed to get dirty easily, but was always being cleaned. You can walk into the main areas very easily. Nice safe neighborhood it seemed.
