Sarajevo was very friendly and felt safe and comfortable.
Sarajevo was very friendly and felt safe and comfortable. There is a great cafe culture so you can sit with a coffee or beer and watch the world go by. It is culturally diverse and feels welcoming, all the more extraordinary considering the fairly recent history of war and the siege. There are walking tours which are worth going on- ours was great, with a local, knowledgeable guide. It’s worth going up on the cable car and having a wander around the mountain tracks- all well signposted.
We can’t wait to go back!

A really interesting city.
A really interesting city. The people are warm and friendly, ready to welcome and assist visitors. Many speak a variety of languages. English is commonly used, menus are often in English as well as Bosnian. The food is tasty and there are a variety of cuisines to choose.
The city is walkable, there are many tours available. We chose a free
Walking tour and the Fall of Yugoslavia tour. Both to our guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about their city. They were open to questions and enjoyed sharing their opinions.
The cable car allows the visitor to get a Birds Eye view of its size. The Old Town is great for traditional meals. Good coffee is available everywhere.
I liked the fact that East and West meet, it gives hope. It was an experience that will remain with me for a while.

Such an interesting city, with an even greater sense of East meets West than Istanbul. It's small, so easy to get around, and the river is helpful for orientation. Two must-see destinations that are often missed are the Jewish Museum and the Sarajevo Haggadah held in the National Museum. Would recommend a 'free' walking tour - we used Neno & Friends, and Merima was really excellent. But be prepared: still very much a cash-based economy, and BAMs not available outside Bosnia. Also, maybe it was just the season (early May), but restaurants are often fully booked - worth booking a day or two in advance. The 2-hour Talgo train down to Mostar is a great side trip for a day or two.

Sarajevo is a truly cosmopolitan and mixed city with vibrant city life. It's also very good value for money. The local cuisine is good with lots of places to choose from and with emphasis on grilled meat dishes. Please note that some restaurants do not serve alcohol but don't let that deter you - there are other places that do, plus bars. Bosnian wine and local Sarajevo beer are very good, as is the local pomegranate juice which is served from stalls. The cable car is worth using and if you have time do visit the Tunnel of Hope. Lots of historic buildings including the famous Latin Bridge. For those interested in the civil war, I went to an exhibition that focused on the Srebrenica massacre. This can be an emotional experience and wouldn't recommend you take children. The train journey between Sarajevo and Mostar is amazing.
A very beautiful house with all services available in addition to the beautiful view. The location of the house is also suitable for tourists, as it is close to the market and all the shops that a tourist may need. The house is clean and has a parking lot. There is also a wonderful balcony. The bedrooms are comfortable and the living room is beautiful, too. The kitchen is excellent and has all the supplies for cooking. I will definitely book the same house when I visit Bosnia again..
The hotel is near Sarajevo City Center, very safe to walk in and out anytime of the day. The view is very nice from the room. We’ve had one of the best breakfast and the lady chef cooks the perfect eggs each and every time. Harun from Cafe Swiss was very nice and polite. Also when we checked out, Bakir assisted us and was very nice and accommodating. They clean our room everyday and we had the best stay in Sarajevo. We will surely stay on this hotel next time we come back to Bosnia.
This is very nice one bedroom apartment that we stayed in. Well furnished , comfortable bed , full kitchen ,parking for our car and about 7 minutes walk to the old town where there are many restaurants, bakeries, butchers and a small supermarket . The owner is helpful especially when we booked one extra night . She introduced us to a free walking tour of the old town which was very good , offered by ''Meet Bosnia'' travel firm
It was great staying here and the owners were very kind. I ended up booking this place last minute when the other place I booked very closeby turned out to be unacceptable to stay. The owners got the place ready for me in less than 10 minutes and very attentive. The flat was super clean and easy walk away from everything. They even kept my bags for as long as I needed to and made suggestions. Highly recommended!
incredible location in the heart of Old Town. walk out the door and you’re in the middle of the charm of it all. Staff were fantastic and made us Bosnian coffee several times upon request. of course, coffee machine, tea, and fresh fruit were available 24/7. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Absolutely recommend Hotel Old Sarajevo as an outstanding option. Will stay here again on future visits!
Location amazing, staff kindly. Special great thanks to old man in reception(sorry forgot the name). I had more than 100 hotels in 25-30 countries but never meet like this staff, he is very kindly. Dear admin, please tell our greetings to him, we can’t meet with him when we check-out, and absolutely I’ll book this property when I will come back to Sarajevo. Thanks a lot!
There were private breakfasts with a private chef, just for me. A strong Bosnian breakfast for a long day. Breakfast is served in the basement, in the restaurant, but I had it more than once in the cafe, well served, chatting with people.
Very private parking free parking I like a lot.
Hotel position is minutes walk from Iliđa center.
I really liked the room and all the facilities, the location was perfect to visit Sarajevo, we did everything by walk. I wanted to express my gratitude to Maya, the owner of the Hotel, she was really nice with us, we discussed with her and learned about the history of Bosnia, she helped us a lot and was really smiling and patient!
Clean and pretty apartment, very friendly owners, great location. I've booked many apartments in Sarajevo over the years, but this was one of the most solid and pleasant experiences. If you want to stay in an authentic Bosnian house just around the corner of the old town for a really fair price, this is a great choice.
Apartment was very clean and good located. It had more than enough space for 2 people. I would come again. It had everything you need even for a longer stay, like washing machine. Handover with keys was really easy. And I really liked that apartment didn't smell like cigarettes since that is quite common in Bosnia.
Perfect location for a night before catching an early morning flight. The host was excellent in communication and instructions on keys, wifi etc.. Very handy for supermarket close by. We were able to cook dinner and relax with a movie. A quality place to round off a wonderful stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Modern hotel with large rooms and excellent bathroom. Sauna is available but not in room as stated on website although we did not have time to use it anyway. Hotel location is perfect, close, and I mean 5 mins walk, to Old Sarajevo. Really nice breakfast that changes daily
Breakfast was fantastic, the freshly made omelette, bosnian coffee and fresh fruit were the perfect start to my days exploring. The staff is very kind, hospitable and helpfull. The hotel to me felt like being a guest in someone's home. A big thank you to all the staff.
We booked this apartment for the end of December.
The host was very friendly (also speaks very good English).
The location is very close to the city center.
Covered parking (garage).
Very big apartment and comfy.
The only good thing about this place it’s location, in the heart of old town. However, it’s not worth the money, there are better hotels in the city center for less money, if you book in advance.
The rooms we booked were very clean, the staff was very nice and brought fresh towels etc every day. The hotel is right in the center of sarajevo and you can reach everything easily by foot.
This was an ideal place for our needs. Close to the east Sarajevo bus station and spacious enough to relax after some warm travel days throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina
