Although a town of fairly humble origins (agglomerated villages) it has a UNESCO world heritage site : the Four Lifts. I recommend cycling along the canal and admiring them. When following the canal, there is also, at Thieu, a magnificent view on the new Lift (which is gargantuan). We arrived at La Louviere late at night and after a terrible journey. The welcome we got was just what was needed - big smiles with the staff friendly and welcoming. We had booked a family room which was spacious, clean and the beds were super comfy. Breakfast was good, with good selection. This was a quick overnight stay for an onward journey so location with easy access to the motorway was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

Unlike many other so called family rooms in other hotels, this was perfect for the 2 adults and 2 children stay. Separate toilet, dividing partition, separate lighting, all small touches to provide the comfort a family needs when sharing a room, were provided. The breakfast was excellent, and perfect to fill us up for our onward journey. The staff were very helpful, professional and efficient.

Having a restaurant next door with great meal selection enhances the overall experience. The walking distance to one of the tallest boat lifts in Europe is a unique bonus. It's undoubtedly my favorite place to stay when visiting the area.
