Guiyang is an interesting city.
Guiyang is an interesting city. Most people visit only to then leave and venture into the countryside. However, the city itself is worth a few days, especially if you are interested in exploiring off-beat small local bars and restaurants (foreigner friendly and with international food options).

It was a nice place, and the people were very polite.

The water slide park was great, but make sure you are aware there are restrictions for those over 90 kg. And the hot water spa is pay separately. I went on the most scary rides and couldn't wait to go again!
The caves, about 45 mins away are spectacular. Best not to take children under 7 as they will get bored and tired since the cave walk is very long (45 mins). Perhaps not perfect if you are heavily pregnant or have difficulty walking. The zip slide was awesome!
There is a wetland park for nature lovers and ornithologists. I didn't go but plan to next time.
I self drove and the driving is quite safe and courteous. Some car hire companies take the International Permit. I have a Chinese DL and hired from a Chinese company. The service was excellent. The best way of communicating to all service providers is We Chat. They can send you locations, advice and instructions. Its virtually indispensable now.
The host, Li Yun, is the best guide to Guiyang! He knows hospitality and is very friendly! The double room was very clean, neat, comfortable and cozy. I would definitely book it again do I ever come back to Guiyang. The inn is an amazing apartment with a huge balcony and terrasse with plants, cactus and flowers. It’s quite zen and you can rest or chitchat in the common living room. I stayed overnight at Li Yun’s, but I go back with great memories and stories to tell!
We loved that this hotel is connected to the mall so there are dining and entertainment options for us. We didn't get to enjoy breakfast because we had to leave early for the airport. We were able to request a packed breakfast that we could take with us. There were also English channels available on the TV. Since the toiletries were in refillable bottles, it was very thoughtful to have a small bottle of lotion available for guests.

The hotel itself is phenomenal. The bar cocktails and snacks were great. The hotel is in a great location for the museum and modern bars and restaurants such as Commune, BUT it is a long way from the historical centre. The breakfast was reasonable.
A top hotel in every respect: just to mention the exceptional quality of the breakfast buffet, the friendliness and patience of all the staff, even with difficult tasks such as IT tasks, special thanks to Selena.

The staff were friendly and patient in handling the complicated paperwork procedure for registering non-Chinese guests in the hotel. They also tried to give friendly and helpful suggestions about local attractions.
worst experience ever, apparently hotel doesn’t know about booking.com. They coudn’t find my reservation and let me pay more to stay. If you’re a foreigner can’t speak Chinese, please skip this hotel.
I thought the breakfast was poor compared to other Hiltons I have stayed at in China. There was very little selection and alot of the items were out by the time I arrived at breakfast.
clean hotel, large comfortable rooms with all the necessary amenities, the staff were really helpful, and it's a short walk across the street to the airport. perfect for what I needed.
