Absolutely loved the Gold Museum and the Botero Museum.
Absolutely loved the Gold Museum and the Botero Museum. Both were outstanding. The National Museum was slightly disappointing on the pre Columbian material after visiting the Gold Museum. Monserrate worth a visit on the hill as the views are spectacular. Try to take the cable car as the funicular was a bit claustrophobic. But tickets in advance. If you walk up or down the hill make sure you have good shoes to walk in
It was a good city to walk around. La Candelaria is a nice area and I wish I had time for a walking tour there. The graffiti in Bogota is spectacular and again with more time I would have done another tour. Some of the craft beer is excellent and there is a lot of it.
Be careful at dusk and at night especially if alone. You can feel a little isolated at times and there is some aggressive begging .
Overall an excellent city to visit for a few days.

Bogota is a large and interesting city with no shortage of places to visit beyond the well-known galleries and museums. While many people have some English, particularly those under 30 or working in hotels or better quality restaurants, having some Spanish is very helpful or use a translating app. To get around I found Ubers quite inexpensive and readily available, but allow plenty of time for travel as Bogota's traffic is notoriously heavy. Several locals warned me not to use the Transmillenio bus system for fear of robbery and its complexity. There are no trains. I stayed in the northern suburbs (Calle 100) which is more middle class and is said to be safer than the central city area. It's an interesting area to walk around and there are a number of large pleasant parks and well-priced good restaurants and shopping centres. The Parque de Chico - Mercedes Hacienda - with its lovely heritage house and the nearby (short walk) home and studio of Enrique Grau who died in 2004 are recommended. A high level of personal security awareness is essential - eg secure wallets, leave your passport at the hotel but carry some photo identification such as a driver's licence as many museums etc require it for admission. Acceptance of of debit/credit cards is far from universal so carry Colombian Pesos in small notes.

Gastronomy is very good check if is water restrictions go where is a lot of people visit museums a lot to do go to monserrate don't take yellow cabs and check the same rate when you stay I stay at Dann and over chargue 20 dolars more but in general if you like mountains food museums
Bogota captures unique Columbian culture beautifully, especially closer to La Candelaria. As you head north from there it will be cleaner and more modern especially near Zona T.
The walk from Centro Industrial area (Santa Fe) to La Candelaria is fun with many street vendors offering food and new/used items. Lots of ATMs and foreign exchange location along the way, you will need COP but established business take credit card sometimes with a fee.
The language is all Spanish, our translator app came in handy would recommend you install one for your trip if needed.
The weather is cool as city at 8k feet elevation. We visited in April with daytime highs in 60s but carry a light jacket as sun sets and temps drop to 50s. Interestingly, not many people in shorts, you will stand it if you where them.
Taxis everywhere, but we used Uber which worked really well and cheap maybe $8 for a 25min ride. Dollar strong vs COP, you can get a decent meal from $4 for meal of day style to $20 for a higher end fish place. Street food $1 hamburger and $2 chicken/beef stick.
Museums are great, lots of over 60 free or just a few bucks to see Bontero and Picasso originals.
We felt very safe even down in La Candelaria, never saw pickpocketing or theft but just a few requests for money during day and early evening. Was not out late evening so not sure about then.

Bogota is a very very big city!
Bogota is a very very big city! We walked around the Candelaria a lot, which was great since it was during holy week and the streets were full of people and vendors. The funicular to Monserrat was incredible and highly recommended. Be prepared to spend a couple of hours up there, including eating at one of the many little restaurants, and enjoying the view. We took taxis everywhere, which was really easy and also important to remember that they are small (3-4 people) if you have a larger group. Later in the afternoon in March/April, there can be big rainstorms, so make sure to bring an umbrella!
I really loved the facilites of the hotel, the rooms were excelently equipped, the personal served With excellence. The food of the restaurant was so delicious and the price was very good. Also I need to remark the attention of the reception team, of the restaurant team añd of the room maintnance. Finally I algo need to mention that the hotel is very well located in Bogota. I give a 100/100 to the hotel. I Will stay there again this week. I recomend this hotel to everybody visiting Bogota.
I had a wonderful stay at El Dorado Hotel in Bogota, Colombia! The breakfast selection was impressive, offering a variety of delicious options to start the day. The rooms were spacious with ample storage and surfaces, making it convenient to organize belongings. The hotel's location was perfect, providing a safe environment and easy access to great restaurants. The staff were extremely friendly, always ready to assist with a warm smile. Plus, the value for the price was exceptional.
Exquisitely decorated by the owner, a true gentleman who made our stay wonderful. A true jewel in old Bogotà, comfortable and beautiful, exquisite, I cannot recommend it enough!!! The two ladies who made our breakfast and served the delicious Colombian coffee, Lucia and Mai, were kind and solicitous and lovely. The neighborhood is safe, quaint and fun. I will recommend this gorgeous place to anyone who goes to Bogotá!!!
Super clean and brand new hotel. 20 minutes in taxi from the airport.
It is located in a secure work zone so has lots of security. There's shops and restaurants in the zone and an ATM.
Excellent value for money and great hotel to chill in before flight out of Bogota.
Kettle in the room with coffees and sugars.
Cable TV and Netflix access.
Decent breakfast
7 min walk to a shopping mall.
The staff is exceptional, always taking care of you and helping you with everything you need.
The restaurant area which is the lobby as well has a great view of the city. It also has a balcony where you can sit and eat and enjoy the gorgeous view of Bogotá and its mountains.
It is also super close to to airport, like a 7min drive
Affordable and comfortable, great hotel overall.
Hotel was so authentic and cozy! I especially liked the furniture and all the details e.g. old vintage phones, beautiful library etc. Location was perfect, in the historical center of Bogota, and we had an amazing view (from the window you could see the main cathedral - Catedral Primada de Colombia). Also, hotel offers great tours in cooperation with the local agency.
Such a lovely place to stay! Martín, Diego and all the staff were wonderful... So hospitable and welcoming. They attended to every need and question we had, and were great with my young daughter too. I would 100% recommend this adorable hostel to anyone coming to Bogotá wanting a boutique experience. Their cafe is the best and the accommodations are beautiful.
Very good location a short cab ride from either the old town Candellaria or more modern shopping areas with restaurants in Chapinero. We used the hotel as our base while travelling around Colombia and making stops in Bogota. Incredible value for money. In a quiet residential street. Comfortable modern clean rooms. Super friendly and helpful staff.
I was only going to stay in Bogota for two nights and was not planning on staying in the room other than to sleep and the room was OK for that. If I had more nights I most likely would've changed hotels. Check-in and check-out was pretty fast. The staff seemed nice, but they only spoke Spanish. Short distance to the airport!
Dear I m specialist Engineer that the last 25 Years travel for work around the world I find in Plaza hotel Bogota one of the best service ever see . The complete staff are friendly and professional, the kitchen fantastic. The management must be proud of this staff . Thank very much for this two day. Stefano Moresco
Beautifully designed hotel, really stylish, with very comfortable room and great showers. Ideally located in the main restaurant district of Bogotá. The street is quiet and feels very safe. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and organised transport to and from the airport for us.
The hotel was really good!
Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. It's located at a safe area of Bogota and 10 mins away from the airport. Make sure your breakfast is included in your room because it's freaking good!
Perfect for a layover in Bogota, 12-15 min ride from El Dorado Airport, comfy beds and hot shower. The receptionist, Daniela, was outstandingly friendly and helpful!
The hotel is great value for money. It offers basic comfort.
the hotel has rooms and all furnished appartments. the rooms are quite warm, the apartments a little bit colder but the hotel provides bed clothing to sleep during Bogota’s rainy season. the fare from the airport is included
This was a very clean "business" hotel right in the middle of the Bogota Airport and the City Centre. To reach any tourist attractions, an Uber was required. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was acceptable.
Hotel was well located for access to the airport and all of the businesses in the northern part of Bogota. It was exceptionally good value, the staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable.
The room was comfortable. Some of the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The drivers the hotel arranged were excellent.
Bogota and Colombia is wonderful. This hotel is a disappointment.
The hotel was clean, modern and really close to the airport. We used it both on our way into and out of Bogota. We got breakfast the first time, which was lovely. The shuttle worked awesome.
It is a 20min walk to the airport.
Costs around 38 000 COP to get into central Bogota and 23 000 COP to get from central Bogota to the hotel.
Bed was comfortable and large.
