Known as the "Jewel Box", Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city center.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.
Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Continue your journey along the cultural centre of Germany and visit the picturesque Baroque square of Neumarkt. Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cozy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.

We stayed in Dresden for 5 days. We were there during the Dresdner Frühjahrsmarkt, so we sampled some of the local food and drinks- everything was delicious.
Our hotel was just outside of the old town and it was really easy to reach all major sights on foot. And we did some shopping too with many shops near our hotel.
We took a cruise to Blasewitz with a steam boat on the Elbe- it was a great experience. We also travelled to Görlitz with a train for a day and it was a charming little town near the "border" with Poland.

The town center was destroyed in WWII sat in ruins while under Soviet control. Has been completely rebuilt with no ruins remaining. Amazing! Walking through an old city that’s brand new. Apparently not on most American travel lists as English was rare, bring your Google Translate app.
Lovely architecture; beautiful natural setting; great museums and music venues. Great food. Excellent public tram system as well as scooters to rent. I will avoid hostels and spend more money to stay in a hotel. I enjoyed the Hygiene and City museums. I'll be back for sure!

Very beautiful city.
Very beautiful city. The historic center is very impressive considering that it was almost entirely rebuilt after 1945. I highly recommend the Old Masters Gallery in Zwinger. This is an unforgettable experience!

Everything!
Everything! Easily my favourite city to visit in Germany so far for its sheer beauty. Amazingly I got last minute tickets to the Semperoper (the opera) to watch “The Magic Flute”.
The architecture, the food, the people are what make Dresden the special place it is.
The Hop on Hop off bus tours are great as they take you to the suburbs in the hills that you would otherwise not get a chance to see. Great views and a good cafe in one suburb to have a coffee.

I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans.
I went for trains and there is a lot for train fans. Two narrow gauge steam trains, only 15 minutes by train away from the main station: Weißeritztalbahn and Lößnitzgrundbahn. The Transport museum (Verkehrshaus) next to the Frauenkirche is also worth a visit. Take the 1.5 hour train east to Zittau and you get to another great and famous narrow gauge steam train line. And you are only scratching the surface here. If you are in the UK, take the Eurostar to London, then continue with the Eurosleeper in a direct train to Dresden. You can even easily make a day trip to Prague!
The room was super clean and cozy. It looks small but it is really packed to the best, given the square meters available. It might have been nice to have a mini-bar and electric kettle in the room just to complete the package tough. The staff were excellent and the restaurant was perfect with outstanding quality. The chef had it really going. The breakfast was clean, rich of option, and well-managed, even during COVID situation. The hotel is by the river and it is just a 20-minute walk to the middle of old town.
Modern, comfortable and clean. Contemporary interior design. Good parking in the basement, large spaces and well lit. The hotel has a section of the car park (34 spaces) immediately at the bottom of the entrance ramp. If this is full then parking on the street is possible (anx much cheaper) on the quiet street in front of the hotel.
The location is very good about 10 minutes walk to the old town and city centre. The hotel does not have a restaurant but provides a small range of bar snacks/meals eg pizza.
This is so far the best hotel we have stayed in Dresden. Nice to treat yourself for a special event. If you’re lucky or have some extra budget - get the room with the view of Frauenkirche and the square. It is good spot to just seat and do some people-watching. For cold and rainy days there is sauna on the upper floor… as well as fancy Moritz restaurant. Perfect location for Old Town sightseeing or Opera visit. Very comfortable beds and pillows… and pleasant quiet so you can relax.
First time in Dresden and I am glad I chose this hotel. The location is perfect as it is close to the center and we had an advent market 200m from the hotel. Rooms were nice and clean. We were with a baby and they provided a crib free of charge. The hotel does not have their own parking but we parked right in front of the doors on public parking. It costed 6€ per 24h. I have my hotel for Dresden :)
The hotel is very well located - close to every major landmark in Dresden. It is only 15 min walk from the main train station and the bonus is that you go through the main shopping street of the city. The hotel is located inside the biggest Mall in Dresden, but it is super quiet and you don't even know it. The rooms are basic, but they have everything you need for a couple of nights stay.
This is an excellent hostel close to the old town/city centre. Easy check-in at the café next-door.
The rooms are large and in a very good shape. Different rooms have different decor.
A very nice kitchen with a large table. Large and fresh shower rooms.
Tram stop outside the door and S-bahnstation within 5 min walk.
I recommend this hostel to everyone planning to visit Dresden.
The location is simply great, it’s only 10 minute walk from the city centre! The main train station is just in front of the hotel, which is super convenient. The hotel room was very functional, squeaky clean, and very well insulated from the outside train noise- very appreciated! The staff was very kind and helpful. We will definitely stay here again once we’re back in Dresden!
I have stayed in two hotels in Dresden and I recommend Pullman. It's very close to train station and also not far from the old town. There are fridge, coffee machine and tea kettle in room. The breakfast is excellent (sugarfree option is a plus) but it could be difficult to find seats during peak hours.
Very clean and modern hotel that is just a few steps from everything that I wanted to do and see in Dresden. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and spoke English very well. The bike room was perfect. The breakfast was outstanding! many great restaurants close by. I highly recommend staying there.
The location of this hotel is perfect, right in the middle of the old town. We have been here last year and we knew what to expect. The hotel is somehow "basic", nothing fancy, but it is perfect for a couple that wants to spend a few days in wonderful Dresden. We can only recommend it.
Well beyond the expectations, the room and the whole hotel were cozy and clean, there was a private parking inside, the area was really nice, close to a lot of restaurants and with the Dresden city centre at walking distance, and also my dog was very welcome. Recommended.
Good and friendly hotel in Neustadt, the area where the nice restaurants and bars are. In walking distance of Dresden Altstadt. Also nearby bahnhof Dresden Neustadt, from where you can make trips outside Dresden. The swimming pool was a luxury to have in the morning.
I had a really long Europe trip with many different hotels to stay, this hotel is my favorite. A good value for money.
Comfortable bed, big room, good parking lot, very good breakfast ( the best ), a good location, just 5 min from the old town.
Very nice helpful staff (they tried hard to speak in English). The hotel had a small storage room for our bikes. The breakfast is fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant has a really nice view of Dresden.
I was already here three times, so I knew what to expect. It is a clean hotel, the price is cheap for Dresden and it works decently enough if you have some professional activities in the area like I did.
Very friendly and helpful staff in a lovely hotel. The hotel is perfectly located for a visit to Dresden (easy walking distance to city sites). I'd recommend the hotel to friends visiting the city.
It is a beautiful hotel, with a very modern decoration contrasting with the old town (Altstadt Dresden). The room is comfortable, cozy and warm. Perfect place to enjoy the city.
