Böblingen is adjacent to a large industrial area but does have a certain amount of character. There seem to be a variety of restaurants, some not currently open because of Covid 19 but we found a good Italian restaurant with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, well spaced out for Social distancing. We would definitely stop there again for an overnight if on a long drive.

And even though I was a solo traveler and diner, the staff treated me like I was the most important guests there. Everyone was so very friendly and helpful. It is very walkable (and safe) to the train station, and easy to get to Stuttgart and airport, as well as Tübingen. Although Ehningen doesn't have any sights, there is a large meadow across from the hotel for taking walks.

The hotel is 'bijou' and family run with friendly and helpful staff. It does have a family atmosphere and the lounge/breakfast area is 'homely'. The town centre location is good for food choices (hotel does not have a restaurant), and there is a local brewery (Brauhaus) that serves food too. I have stayed in hotels before that advertise cooking facilities in the rooms, if you can count a microwave, toaster and kettle as a kitchen. This hotel has a real kitchen and utensils in each room. The garden area was beautiful for sitting outside with beer and wine in afternoon. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds and lounging space.
