Everything was really nice, cozy and good quality. Top breakfast, snacks, coffee and wine in the evening. The lady from the reception was very friendly and knowledgeable. This hotel is a must visit, much better than the usual touristy resorts. Also they offer free private parking, a bit plus for us.

It was a great stay at Casa Madera. Owners are great people. The casa was comfortable and really well equipped with everything you would need. Bed was comfortable though a bit squeaky but it didn't bother me. Nice patio with a beatiful view to the Teide. Overall, good stay!

Finca Las Carmenes, hotel in Icod de los Vinos

Finca Las Carmenes offers accommodations in Icod de los Vinos, 20 miles from Los Gigantes and 28 miles from Aqualand.

This property offers a truly remarkable experience. Nestled atop a tranquil hillside, it provides panoramic vistas of the coastline, mountains, and the majestic Teide peak. The rustic charm of the farmhouse is complemented by its sprawling garden, expansive courtyard, inviting pool, comfortable sunbeds, and shaded shelter – a perfect retreat from the sun's rays. Equipped with all the essentials for cooking and grilling, the house offers a serene environment for families, even accommodating our 11-month-old baby with a thoughtfully provided high chair and crib. The absence of internet turned out to be a refreshing digital detox, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature and quality family time. During our summer stay, while the rest of the island sweltered in temperatures exceeding 30-35°C, this hillside haven offered a pleasant 26-28°C during the day and a refreshing 18-20°C at night – a welcome respite. As our visit neared its end, we indulged in stargazing from the comfort of the sunbeds. The absence of light pollution unveiled a breathtakingly clear night sky, an unexpected delight. This retreat is tailored for those seeking solace away from urban life, opting for tranquility and nature's embrace. It's advisable to dedicate days and weeks solely to this haven, savoring the seclusion. While the nearest grocery store is just a 15-minute drive away, and the coast around 20 minutes, it's important to note that this haven rests high in the mountains. A winding 5-minute journey along country roads leads to a 15-20 minute ascent, navigating Tenerife's charming small city roads among villages and mountains. Evenings may envelop you in a cloak of clouds, providing a surreal experience of mist drifting through. In the winter, temperatures can drop significantly to around 8°C, shrouding the place in fog throughout the day.

Icod is an unassuming and charming little town in the north of Tenerife. It is by no means a tourist resort, but a place where the locals live, work and go to school. Icod has its fair share of attractions - Parque del Drago and Mariposario right in the centre, Cueva del Viento and Playa San Marcos a few kilometres up and downhill respectively - but it is not built around them. Playa San Marcos is a beautiful spot, a short drive, bus ride or somewhat lengthy walk downhill from the centre of town, but as anywhere on the north coast of Tenerife, be aware that the surf tends to be strong and bathing is not permitted if it gets too strong. There are many impressive and well-marked hiking routes in the vicinity of Icod, one starting from the plaza of nearby Garachico and going up to and around the Chinyero volcano (you can do it in sections), another from Los Silos to Erjos, to name but a few. Icod is very well connected to everything along the north coast from Buenavista to Puerto, making it an excellent base from which to explore the north-west of Tenerife. We relied on buses ('guaguas') and sometimes taxis for all our excursions and it worked perfectly. So, if you are looking for a friendly, relaxed and, shall we say, 'authentic' place to stay in Tenerife, and if you are not fully committed to a beach holiday, then this is the place to go.

We think that the north coast of Tenerife is much more...

We think that the north coast of Tenerife is much more pleasant than the south, it’s much greener, less touristy and there’s some lovely visits to be done. The roads, particularly in the north, are quite hair raising in places, very hilly and twisty, we quite understood by the end of our trip why the car hire company had not bothered to repair all the scrapes! We very much enjoyed the village of Garachico, a few minutes drive from Icod de L’os Vinos, a beautiful little village. Of particular note the restaurant Silogia where we returned for a second visit it was so good, lovely food, beautiful courtyard and friendly efficient hosts. There is also some natural sea water pools which looked wonderful but unfortunately were temporarily closed for some reason. Icod de Los Vinos itself we didn’t visit in depth but we did enjoy the dragon tree and butterfly house. What we did appreciate immensely was all the free on street parking areas everywhere we went in the north and near the beaches.

If you are trekker like us, Icod is a perfect starting point. Climate, closeness to the treks, small playa close by, .... just perfect. Not too big, but big enough with few interesting sights of the town to visit.

We liked the area around Icod.

We liked the area around Icod. The town Garrachico was very nice and we found rough beaches to go swimming. Icod is a friendly town with few tourists when we visited. Lidl as a big shopping center for groceries. The best part is nature around Icod and that it is away from the masses of tourists on the south coast.

Is very good but in one or two years when the Erjos tunnel finish the construction you save twenty minutes in the Teno mountain for the south and beachs . And then Icod become one of the best place in the midpoint between north and south

Great location although slightly further up the hill but the roof terrace is beautiful with loads of plants and chairs for sitting and watching the sunset/stars/planets. Heiko was a superb host, he has really set the standard for great accommodation in Icod de Los Vinos having reliable Wi-Fi in rooms and on roof terrace. My family stayed in more expensive places in the town nearby but Apartmentos Monasterio beat them hands down! Will definitely stay here again at some point in the future.

Elevated terrace with views of both the sea and the mountains to the front of the home and an excellently kept secluded garden full of flowers, plants and trees behind the building. Proprietor was lovely and always available to help us while there. Village is small enough to be quiet but large enough to have restaurants, shops and other convinces. Car park just accross from the hotel. Beautiful home with wooden staircase and immaculately clean rooms.

Very nice bungalow, it is not huge but cosy, Great view spots, owners helpful. Washing machine and dryer available - very helpful. It was bit tricky to find it, since it is gate by road, but then parking was safe, we got remote control for gate, so easy control. Dogs and cats around:-) Henry is very friendly. Really recommend if you want to be in calmer place than in beach hotel, but count with commuting. Book with local recommendations, very useful.

The place is located uphill of Icod de los Vinos (around 10-15 min drive to the centre), surrounded by forests and with Teide views. Very calm and ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature. We stayed at El Naranjo, one of the old little houses, which was cozy, very clean, and decorated in rural style. The house is well-equipped with all you can need for a stay of a few days, including fast internet connection. The owner was kind and very available.

the hotel is located in the very center of Ico de Los Vinos. There's a banana museum, a church with a Sunday market, a butterfly park, the famous Dragon tree, as well as grocery stores, bars and restaurants right next door. The hotel is very beautiful, ancient, comfortable and tidy. In the hotel's patio and terrace, surrounded by palm trees and banana trees, we exercised in the morning. Great breakfast! Welcome, I recommend it!

The house is located on the outskirts of Icod de los Vinos, which is great if you’re looking for an authentic vibe and local atmosphere. It’s perfectly equipped to make your stay comfortable. It has a big kitchen with a living room, two bedrooms, a bathroom and an outside area with a pool. The owners are really attentive and nice people.

Beautiful old hotel in the centre of the old town. Rooms around a courtyard but quiet. We were there at Christmas and all the local restaurants were closed in the evening, so the hostess prepared sandwiches for the guests and set up tables so we could take out from the nearby Chinese restaurant.
