The room was just big enough to walk around in without tripping over luggage. There was also a small desk. Young woman at the front desk was nice. Walkable from train station. You can walk downhill a short way and catch the tram if you’re too tired to walk to the port. I had a partial ocean view from my room.

Founded by the Phocaeans in 600 B.C., the long history of Marseille has produced an interesting and dynamic port-side city bursting with cultural diversity. Watch the fishermen sell their catch by auction at Vieux Harbor or cruise along the Corniche roads with views of the Calanques, dramatic rocky inlets to the sea.
The le Cours Julien and la Plaine areas provide a trendy hangout and every Thursday and Saturday morning, the Plaine market offers its various wares. If a culture packed vacation is on the agenda, the Musée d'Archéologie Méditerranéenne, Notre Dame de la Garde and Palais Longchamp won’t disappoint. The unique Unité d'Habitation, designed by famous architect Le Corbusier, contains everything from a shopping street to housing and has spectacular views of the terracotta landscape that makes Marseille so distinctive.

Marseille as a city is a not a great tourist destination - the cathedrals are recent builds, the port is full of modern buildings interrupting the decaying ancient architecture - and there was a lot of graffiti everywhere. However, the parc national des calanques, which was right next door, was absolutely spectacular; and the blue mediterranean was so beautiful. I didn't go to the museums but colleagues who did said they were excellent.

An interesting historic city.
An interesting historic city. The old port, the Les Paniers district and the Pharo regions are full of fascinating history. Good transport links too, only a few hours from Paris on the train. The bus network is excellent.

A city of great contrasts.
A city of great contrasts. Beautiful, energetic, smelling of good food, for shopping, for walks. It also has its disadvantages if you move away from the port. You will see a different side of the city. Dirty, bad smelling and a bit dangerous. There are places where you can see that you are in France

I solo travelled and didn’t feel unsafe technically but felt uncomfortable there was always men staring or speaking in French towards me. Not somewhere I would recommend to female groups or female solo travellers. The majority of people also refuse to speak English even though it is a high tourist area. There isn’t much to do in the centre apart from the shopping centre port and a few sights. It is easy to get around you can walk to almost everything and there is a bus from the airport for €14 return which runs from the airport till 1:30am and back to the airport from 3:30am. Avoid going out at night or walking after dark. Ubers are also quite expensive I paid €13 for. 4 minute drive from my hostel to the bus station as it was dark so I didn’t feel safe walking. Le Panier is the best place in Marseille and I would really only recommend that

Many things to do and a good base to get to other cities (...
Many things to do and a good base to get to other cities (Cassis and Aix de Provence for example) and the cruise port. Some parts are better than others. We loved staying in Le Panier which is an old part of the city. Many tourists came through just to see. Our area felt very safe and calm. Great murals in Le Panier. Towards the station gets seedier, busier, dirtier, and noisier, but has a fun variety of ethnic stores and restaurants. Le Panier is a little more challenging for transport, but it is doable. Best if you don't mind a few minutes of walking. We did not get to it, but there are some easily accessible islands very nearby. Also, you can visit the Calanques although we did a bus day trip to Cassis and did this via a boat tour from there (careful of the return times and full busses!). Exceptional.

I enjoyed visiting the major landmarks.
I enjoyed visiting the major landmarks. Such as the Basillique Notre Dame la Garde and Palais Longchamps.
I had may meals at the many restaraunts around the Veux Port
I walked everywhere.
I would get advice from the hotel about what areas to avoid.
When visiting Marseille, it would be better to with someone or in a group.
The Hotel is in a fantastic location right next to the Central Station in Marseille.(2 minutes walk from hotel) The bus from the airport is less than 30mins away and arrives at the station which also has the Metro station. The Port is less than 15 mins walk from the hotel - 2 stops on Metro. The Breakfast is average but sets you up for the day very limited hot food choice however good choice of breads, cold meat, fruit, cereals etc. There is a nice bar area.Overall great location in a value for money hotel.
The apartment is located in a vibrant area of Marseille, in a walking distance from the Vieux Port. Being located in an old building, the elevator is nicely small - quite an experience. We enjoyed the facilities and had everything we needed in the apartment.
The hosts were fantastic and very supportive with the check-in and check-out instructions.
A perfect choice both for work and holiday purposes, with shops and restaurants around.
An excellent spot to start exploring Marseille with all its facettes.
The apartment is really nice, has everything for your . The bed is very comfortable and the area is very quiet and safe. Metro and busses are about 15 min walk.
Cyril is always there to help, responds very quickly and in great English, which not common for France.
Small grocery store just 1 min from apartment, which is very convenient as there are no other options around so you are lucky to have it that close.
Checking in and out is very easy.
I recommend it for your stay in marseille.
Residhome Marseille was a great hotel to stay for the 3 nights in Marseille. It's newly renovated, clean, good location and the staff were very kind and helpful. Nicole was especially warm and caring. We were pleasantly surprised with a basket filled with goodies and a bottle of champagne as they knew we were celebrating our wedding anniversary that weekend. Thank you Residhome for a great stay and experience in France.
The hotel is right downtown in a street with restaurant and shops, about 5 min from the Vieux Port and many other attractions. Excellent location, attentive staff, clean and cozy, and a little reading room with free coffee, tea, cappuccino all day long! I liked my stay very much, and from my little balcony I could look down on the people hanging out in cafés and wandering on the boulevard. Formidable!
The location is perfect, pretty close to Vieux Port. We’re also very glad because they upgraded our room to higher type of room that has a separate living room and bathtub. The staff also very friendly and helpful. We could checked in earlier, got upgraded to a better room, and they also gave us additional free mineral water bottles. The staff is amazing!
I arrived in Marseille by bus and it was one of the closest hotels to the bus station. Also after checkout, I needed a shuttle bus to the airport and those busses leave from that bus station which was very convenient for me. AMP L91 is the bus if you're interested and it costs €10. I also liked the breakfast and that there were elevators.
I stayed at this hotel and in Marseille just for the night coming from somewhere by plane and then taking the train in the morning to another city in Southern France. For this purpose, it was a perfect stay (comfy bed, quiet, train station opposite the hotel, good breakfast). Cannot really evaluate anything else though unfortunately.
Location 10/10
Few monutes walk to metro stations ( Notre Dame, and Estrangin ) , Tram T3 Line and buses Lines
10 minutes walk to Vieux Port
Staff were helpful, they accepted my early check-in/ late Check-out request, and changed/upgraded my room after a minor complaint.
Good Quality/Price services , you get what you pay for
Hotel in downtown Marseille. Pretty close to Vieux Port, metro and Cours Julien. Nice room with amenities. Microwave. Tea, coffee, fridge. Clean bathroom. Marseille is expensive. This hotel gives you really good quality for the price paid. Staff is helpful and friendly.
the location is awesome,
Ⓜ️🚍1min from the metro 1, and from the bus stop
🌊you have the vieux port view
🥐we took our breakfast at 1860 palais, just next to the hotel with the sea view
💬the staff were friendly, and helpful
🔍loved the interior, aesthetic and clean
The apartment was nice, clean, well equipped and in a great location, 10 min from Palais du Pharo and 20 min near Vieux Port by foot. The owner was helpful and polite. He left me coffe and biscuits for all my stay. Nice and calm neighborhood too.
Right in front of the Vieux Port, beautiful view from
the bedroom (except for the high concrete part of the balcony that blocks a bit of it). Bed facing the view. Friendly staff. In Marseille, staying by the Port is the best way to go.
Arthur was a great host, answered all questions promptly and gave good recommendations for restaurants. The apartment was perfect for a short stay in Marseille. Very easy to walk down to the Vieux Port and to get on the metro system.
We really enjoyed our stay in Staycity aparthotel Marseille. It was very close to the vieux port which suited us perfectly . It was very clean and felt extremely safe! I have to say the staff were so helpful and welcoming aswell
Great hotel, nice views at the restaurant. Great facilities and nice rooms. Also I like the location, although a little further out from the Vieux Port.
