We had an enforced stop because our car broke down.
We had an enforced stop because our car broke down. We ended up in the town for 10 days, staying first in a hotel and then an apartment in the city centre. We walked everywhere and saw all the sights offered at this time of the year. A weekend stay is not recommended as many restaurants and shops and places of interest are shut on Sunday and Monday. It is a lovely medieval town full of shops, restaurants and cafes. I recommend the Kitty cafe is you like cats. There are several chocolate shops and one chocolate factory. The museum Labenche is very good and the Mortlake Tapestries are exceptional. If you have a car there are a lot of places to visit nearby. A great little city with lots to do and see. We took a guided tour of the Denoix distillery which was excellent. A visit to the open market for duck and local produce is recommended. I paid for an upgraded room which I did not get. The room I did get was dirty and not a pleasant smell. There is nothing favourite about this hotel - I did not like it and would not stay there again. Charming town. Very few tourists. Lots of nice restaurants and a wonderful Saturday market with fresh local foods. Very family oriented town; most things (except the churches & rugby) are closed Sunday. Museums don’t offer English translations.
