the night receptionist was very rude and abrupt when being asked a question
Public areas have been updated.
The rooms are looking tired and in need of an update. Our room had obviously suffered with damp as there was a dehumidifier on top of the wardrobe and the heater was on full heat so it was a bit warm in there when we arrived.
Friendly staff, speedy checkin & out. Large rooms. Big free car park. Location ideal for Portsmouth and surrounding area.
Have stayed here 6 times over the last couple of years and the rooms are starting to look tired, though the beds are very comfortable. Especially the bathrooms all in need of a freshen up, though still good value for money
The size of the family room was very good and access to restaurants was very convenient. Shops and town near by. The complimentary soaps and shampoo was really nice
The room is in need of redecorating.
The location was great. Close to where we needed.
Childrens play area wasn't open the whole time we were there. With a 2 year old it was the only reason we booked this hotel. Bathroom very dated.
The staff were very friendly
The hotel needed remodernising.
The location is good, the hungry horse is cheep and cheerful
The room are very dated, wallpaper peeling from the walls , mould on the shower curtains, no complimently toiletries , uneven bathroom floors
Need more info about buses down barrels field rd.
All the facilities were available in the same building, bar, restaurant and sport tv
I read a lot of comments, some good, some bad. This hotel is not the Ritz, but then neither is the price! Yes the whole place could do with redecorating, including our room; however, the room, bed and bathroom were clean. Food was typical Hungry Horse fayer but reasonably priced and good quality. I had a problem with the wall lights, blown bulbs, offered a room swap or breakfast for both days, result. If you are looking for a good location on a budget, look no further, in all honesty this hotel does not deserve some of the reviews posted. I would use this hotel again.
There was a bed, make sure you ask for a quiet room.
Stupidly booked before reading the reviews and was then refused a cancellation. Arrived with low expectations and wasn't disappointed. Unfriendly but "interesting" staff, the receptionists would not be my choice for front of house. On arrival to the room we were greeted by an overpowering smell of cheap bleach/mold/old cigarette smoke, even opening the windows did not clear the smell. The bathroom was unbearable, choking smell of bleach and mold the whole stay. Room and bed was worn and grubby, whole hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment- terrible smell in the corridors as well.
Nice setting, nice layout, comfortable suite, hot water, warm bedroom, pub food and excellent breakfast
Location and large car park. Large executive room on ground floor with comfortable sofa. Convenient restaurant with wide choice of dishes. Friendly staff.
Room was clean but the decoration frankly was disgraceful. Total redecoration is needed to cover patched and grubby walls and woodwork. Lighting was also inadequate.
Room was comfortable although a little worn. Staff friendly.
Kept awake most of the night by people in the corridors running around being very loud, corridor fire door outside of room slammed open on a number of occasions in the early hours.
Friendly staff Hotel linked to pub that had a quiet 'no children' area
Room and bathroom looking a bit tired.
Great hotel nice power in shower Customer service was excellent the front of hotel was awesome but inside was dated and old
I don't normally complain but the wallpaper was falling of the walls and there was mold in bathroom gaps in tiles and the bathroom door was coming apart as it was rotten and I didn't complain to reception as the woman was good at her job and it's not her fault
The room, food staf very friendly
The shower control in room 126 was not the easiestto use.
The food was great. I had a rump steak and coming from a steak eating country I found the steak really good. The room was clean , functional and a pleasant place to stay away from home.
Good size bedrooms and public rooms.
Rooms was a bit shabby, but clean. Restaurant food was poor, especially breakfast.
Location, layout, facilities
Location good, bed comfortable, good size room
Noise from pub next door- though warned about that. No hot water available when tried to use the shower. I am sure that would have been soon rectified but we didn't have time to find out.
hungry horse facility adjoining the hotel
long walk from bus stop
Location is very good & the adjoin hungery horse restaurant is good value. Reception staff & bar staff very efficient & friendly.
The room cleanliness was poor I found rubbish from previous occupant, bathroom tiles dirty & shower curtain, room was cold the door was difficult to shut. It was open when I arrived. Could do with a lick of paint.
We've payed half as much and stayed in cleaner, more modern Premier Inn and Travel lodges. Our room was slightly dusty, the window still was broken with a sharp edge and our bathroom was dated and worn. The door was mouldy due to damp and the tap produced an inconsistent stream of water. Only provided with a single pillow each, we phoned reception for another and was told they had run out. This hotel was my worth £60 a night! All the doors slam shut and do not soft close and paired with noisy neighbours this made for a sleepless night. Not happy really.
