Not our first visit, but rather distracted this time, as the whole nave was closed for a massive re-lighting project, leaving only one entrance open through the cloisters. Only the Lady Chapel offered an island of quiet in a space that felt uncharacteristically hurried. The recently opened cafe and garden opening from the cloister are however wonderfully light and attractive, with a staff who went far beyond their duty to help us with a particular problem.

    No mandatory entrance charge.

No mandatory entrance charge. Don't miss the free 1 hour guided tour. Paul took us around and he was very knowledgeable and with a sense of humour too. Well worth making a suitable donation as we left the cathedral.
