Some breakfast was also provided, coffee and tea; also they fit in a microwave and fridge which was useful.

We were only there for one night, but we’re recommended the Globe for a meal, and it didn’t disappoint, on the way we dropped in at the Annan distillery well worth the £25 tour and the driver gets his or her tasting pack to take away with them.

Lots to see and do all around ; mountain biking in the forests ( recommend Ae forest with bike hire and cafe) Lots of local history from gunpowder to Robert Burns . Drumlanrig castle near Thornhill well worth a visit . Beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very pretty garden. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very spacious, comfortable furniture everything super clean and brand new. We called in to a few pubs and the locals were all very friendly and chatty even to us English ha ha. The town was clean and we had a nice walk across the river along a park then back again. There was plenty of places to have a drink. We only went for the football at Queen of the South and I would go there again given the chance.

However on the Sunday evening, after the Book Festival, There was nowhere suitable available in Dumfries to take three children for an evening meal before travelling home to Stirling. The room had everything one could ask for and it was very cosy. The breakfast was delicious and there was a wide selection of different food options. The place is located close to the railway station and a walk to the town centre will only take about 5 minutes. I'll happily rebook it if I ever visit Dumfries again.
