The room was excellent, particularly the bathroom, location superb, evening meal and breakfast, excellent. Only slight criticism, could have done with more staff, they seemed under quite a bit of pressure, although they were lovely

New owners, who I feel is what the hotel needs. Enjoyed our stay, 40 years since the last time I was at the Horseshoe The horseshoe has a good old-world charm, open fires, good food, good service, polite staff, ideal place for a quiet get-a-way The hotel and the room we were given are in need of a refresh, everything is a bit dated, windows need replacing, bathroom needs a major overall

The Horseshoe Inn was very good value for money, with ample free parking space. It was ideally positioned for guests wishing to visit the Herstmonceux Observatory ( think this should be listed in words the words to describe the advantages of the Horseshoe for its Location as well as the Castle). The room was clean and very tidy, with ample tea making facilities. The breakfast was very good. We would stay at your hotel again

I stayed at the horseshoe inn and was extremely disappointed , when i got to the hotel it looked nothing like wht was advertise on their website , very basic room and it need of tlc , several massive holes in the wall , curtains diff sizes !!tv wasnt working , no mirror in the room??? or a bed side lamp that actually work £ 70 for the night was very expensive as a travelodge would have been much more luxurious and cheaper !!! no wonder the hotel was empty there was 4 people in their bar(including the 2 of us ) and this was on a fri night at 10 pm ??!!and hardly any staff there or i got the impression that the same personn was in reception as well as behind the bar and also working in the kitchen !! very very basic hotel with a very expensive price tag def would not recommend this place ever !!!

Located in lovely countryside and near to Herstmonceux castle. Interesting building, quiet, comfortable, warm, lots of free parking, near to local shops. Staff friendly, helpful and welcoming. The open fire and smell of woodsmoke was especially nice as I arrived. Extractor fan in bathroom noisy.

It was adequate for most of our needs. Although we complained about the following, nothing was done to correct the problems - the light over the sink in the bathroom didn't work, resulting in a few days of a "furry face"; the towel bar didn't heat up, resulting in wet "fast-dry" underwear the following mornings; the room was cold due to the heating not working; the noise from the dining room door below our room, and the music from a gathering on Monday night were very disturbing; and, while merely cosmetic, the hem of the window drape was sagging. Next option, I would consider very carefully to whom I would recommend this Inn.

The staff were amazingly friendly. The rooms were a little small but very comfortable. The restaurant downstairs served lovely food - The cherry bakewell is absolutely scrummy!! The bathroom in the room was lovely and modern. No faults - very glad we stayed here.x

Friendly staff, good breakfast. Hotel decor tired , some parts updated but the lovely old exterior is let down by the dark interior and poor attention to detail in fixtures and fittings. The piped country music wasn't to our taste either, The chef hadn't prepared a menu for the evening meals only one hour before serving so we went elsewhere. Lacked atmosphere.

As I alway's say I was brought up in the area and known the horseshoe for the past 5 decades, seen the up's and down's over the years, however it it a wonderful building despite the fire many years ago it has kept the history. Perfict for those who wish to follow the invasion of the normans, and local abey's castles, idealy centred between eastbourn and hasting,S. Service is good room's are comfortable, and the breakfast well it speekes for itself a nice and welcome start for the day. And don't forget it can and does cater for all and the funcion room's are perfict for wedding's partie's and general get togethers. There is no dislike,s remember if you want high market like the rit's or savoy in london then waste your money there, down to earth reasionably priced room's and food function's or your wedding you can't go wrong by staying at the horseshoe

Staff friendly. In need of refurbishment as very dowdy and old. The Inn itself is very old and has a great deal of caractuer, however, it is run down and tired and need some redecorating, refurbishment and some life back into it. The grounds are quite extensive but they could make it much more inviting to sit outside. A wasted opportunity!
