The building is charming and the food great. Bed extremely comfortable. Very helpful staff. The bathroom was not very clean (the door and part of the wall). The moquette in the room was wet.

The Inn is in a good location esy to reach from the London area. There are plenty of historic houses and villages within a short drive. It is ideally placed to go to the seaside for the day or walk along the Southdowns Way. The food was of a good standard and staff were pleasant and helpful There were a few issues withh our room e.g. The television did not work and there was no heating on in the room- it was a particularly chilly May weekend. The staff, who had only just taken over did their best to address most of the problems.

Comfortable beds giving a good nights sleep. Staff friendly and helpful. Broken tiles on bathroom floor (room 4) which could and will eventually cause cuts to feet. Heated towel radiator shows 'on' light but not working and electrical connector in bathroom cracked which could be dangerous in moist conditions.

The look of hotel from outside and the oldie worlddie inside in bars and restaurant. The staff polite Car park surface is bad with humps and potholes. The room was small for a double and the bed was a small double bed I think it must of been a 4ft bed not a 4ft 6in which is the normal size of a double bed. The light in the shower room was faulty, we did report it and a man did try to fix it twice without any success. The heated towel rail was on in the shower room it was scorching hot with no way of turning it off or down I did burn myself on it when I got up in the night to use the toilet as it was dark with no light in there. The waitress got the breakfast order wrong and not much of it, there was not many people in the restaurant so it wasn't as if the waitress was rushed off her feet and there was no marmalade and nothing on the table was labeled so you did not no weather it was semi skimmed milk or full fat milk we were using for the cereals or tea, and other items on the table not labeled so you had to guess as to what was in the jugs ect. It was a last minuet booking we liked the look of hotel from the internet site but were dissapointed with the room. We did complain to reception when we left an we were given a £15 discount, but felt it was not enough when we did expect a better service than we got.We will not be staying there again, we do have a lot of weekends away but we will make sure its not a Relaxinnz hotel as it was not very relaxing stay

The hotel was dirty, run by a bunch of youngsters, who had probably given up due to the fact the owners were leaving in a couple of days. Chef was sick so food not good, breakfast laughable, had to ask for a cup and numerous other things, asked if I could have a filter coffee, as I dont drink instant, the reply was what's that! Outside hotel loads of rubbish, made everything grubby. Bed linen: although sheets clean, all stained brown.

Staff very helpful and friendly One monumental oversight - there was no mirror in our bedroom, even the very small bathroom mirror was placed so high on the wall, it was of no use to me. This is not to be expected in a hotel bedroom or I would have provided my own. The provision of real tea at breakfast would have made a tremendous difference. A jug of hot water and a tea bag do not provide a cup of drinkable beverage. It would have been more acceptable to take out the cooked breakfast and provide good croissants, toast, fruit, yogurt, some cold meats and cheese. BUT DRINKABLE TEA AND COFFEE ARE ESSENTIAL.

The friendly staff, the quiet relaxed atmosphere and the comfort of the room. Despite evidence of several wedding parties (we were at a wedding ourselves) there was no disturbance during the night from any areas. My husband was particularly impressed by the presence of the trouser press. The description of the room is somewhat exaggerated, described as a superior double, it was very small with only just enough room to pass between the bed and the dressing table. Although the breakfast was quite adequate more information concerning the thermos flasks would have been appreciated and a container on the table to place teabags once used. Also jam or marmalade on the table (central or individual) would not go amiss.

The breakfast the following morning, and on the whole was value for money We arrived mid / late afternoon and would have liked to have tea i.e a cup of tea and some cake or a cream tea perhaps but this was not available only a cup of tea was available and it was too late for us to get anything else from the local shop before going onto our evening reception at the Castle. Lathough our room was adequate it was rather small with not much room to move about and we felt that the decoration was a little tired. On arrival we were informed that there was a wedding reception being held on the Friday evening and our room was over the top of the room where it was being held, we were not offered a different room where it might have been quieter.

Bed comfortable, bathroom newly refurbished I think and very nice, staff very helpful & friendly no soft-close on some doors - such as fire doors upstairs, some bedrooms, but in particular the swing doors between the kitchen & dining room - woke me before 7am every morning. the young lady serving breakfast was very nice and efficient, service could not be faulted, but she should be warned about wearing inappropriate clothing (flowing chiffon wrap) - against all hygene regs in kitchen and there is a serious risk of her catching alight !!!

Bar and relaxation areas were good, staff open and fun, my room was good. Food was also good but a limited menu. Great parking for all types of vehicles The other guys room was cold but a heater was provided, breakfast wasn't great and a poached egg seems to be difficult to get in sussex havng asked for one in three separate hotels! Maybe eastern europeans can't cook them?

The staff were extremely friendly and helpfull. I booked a double room but it was my birthday so they upgraded me to the bridal suite for no extra cost. We had an evening meal there with a few friends, everyone enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere. The room was lovely and the breakfast was good. Would recommend statying here to young, mature or families alike.

The hotel is in a fantastic old house. Great atmosphere in the bar and the restaurant. Heated smoking hut. Great food, locally produced. Comfortable rooms. It's in the middle of nowhere, but I knew that and it was fine.
