bed comfort Very welcoming reception Quality breakfast
Staff were helpful and friendly
Old, tired hotel resting on its laurels Poor wifi Poor mobile coverage Tiny TV Poor bed & bedding Old creaky floorboards And NO DISABLED ACCESS AT ALL
Comfy beds Free parking Breakfast was excellent
Breakfast poor quality
A good, all be it tired old listed building with clean and comfortable bedrooms. With warm, friendly and welcoming staff in reception.
Nothing, it is what it says on the tin, comfortable at down to earth prices without any frills.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was elegant with a beautiful double staircase - I was tempted to slide down the banister! We had a delicious, hearty breakfast looking out onto the garden.
The hotel is ideally situated for visiting Ashby-de-la-Zouch.
The room was very spacious and comfy. Clean, would stay again
Having to be pickie here now wi fi wasn't good. The property is very old and looks like a big investment is needed to the exterior to bring it back to its glory has it has a great stone facade
The staff were very friendly and it has a old world charm about the hotel. Not modern plastic etc...
The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty with a good choice.
The shower was poor little more than a warm drizzle.
Great breakfast friendly staff
Location, Staff, Cleanliness...
Central location to Ashby Great breakfast
Tired, needs a overhaul Needs to replace the TVs
Food good. Staff friendly. Bed very comfy. Breakfast tastes but slow service for tea coffee.
the breakfast was amazing Friendly staff
pillows a bit hard
Very dilapidated room
Always liked this hotel having been a visitor over very many years. Still like it but have doubts now. Good value for money now, that's about it.
Now only a B&B, no evening meals, bar only open at regular licensing hours, very quiet now, and a huge TV in the lounge showing Sky Sports all day. Local Clubs etc which used to meet here no longer do - Rotary, etc.
I stayed in a fully refurbished room which was very clean, comfortable and well laid out. The reception staff were efficiently warm, friendly and welcoming. Excellent value for money hotel which was within a 5 minute walk of the town centre.
Shower a little weak with regard to water flow. Being a listed building the total upgrading and modernisation is restricted by rules and regulations . with the building looking very tired to passing traffic.
Grand building Clean Good food Friendly receptionist + staff
Bedroom had wallpaper coming off wall. Hard bed - sloping on edge. Duvet was old and lumpy with filling in large clumps with bare areas.
Grade 11 listed building full of warmth and charm. Yes, it needs a lick of paint and a little tlc but staff are aware of this and asking customer's input as to what they would like to see. We were made to feel very welcome.
Breakfast is fresh produce prepared and served in a buffet style. It could be improved by being prepared to order. The offer of an evening meal would benefit the hotel and attract more customers. Afternoon/cream tea is served when preordered. Freshly brewed coffee is available at any time.
Clean room, comfortable beds, free parking.
Several repairs to the carpet with bits of black tape, peeling wallpaper, sloping floors. Guests at a function held their welcome reception in the hotel reception area which completely blocked access to the stairs and reception desk, making it very difficult to get through with cases etc. They even had group photos using both sides of the staircase, making us feel very awkward about trying to make trips to the car for the luggage.
The most depressing, dingy, outdated hotel room I have ever stayed in. Bed very hard and uncomfortable, could not get the tv to work properly, heating not working, unable to get kettle under tap to fill it and we even found part of a biscuit on the floor of the bedroom. Cleaner needs to do a better job.
The staff are excellent, very helpful and friendly.the breakfast was good and once again the staff was good again. I will go back again next month . It was so wonderful to be in a nice hotel as I stayed in the hotel from hell in oadbury on J2 on the M5 a few days ago
The hotel is clean and tidy however, a little tied .
Loved everything about it ,location rooms the bars was really enjoyable and will be returning next year
Staff was friendly and nothing was too much trouble breakfast was really good with choice of cold and hot foods. Only down side was no evening meals avalible which resulted in us having to go eat out and was limited on Saturday as most restaurant were booked up prior to our arrival
