Mercure Nottingham Sherwood 4 stars

Hotel in Nottingham

Just 1 mile from Nottingham city centre and on the city bus route, The Nottingham Sherwood Hotel By AccorHotels is located on Mansfield Road. I've returned to this hotel purely because it was exceptional the first time I used it. My daughter is at university in Nottingham and I fly over from Ireland to visit her occasionally. The staff team and their customer service is one of the best I've ever experienced. The welcome was warming, they treat you as an old friend and the management were visible as well as approachable during my stays. This is not the norm, but this hotel is different. Everyone appears to be happy, cheerful and helpful. Housekeeping; cleaning standards were very high. Everywhere (as well as the room) was spotless. The bonus of ample parking was a great help. Not many hotels in Nottingham offer such parking availability. Food was great. Very high quality everywhere with everything. Can't fault the place. It's just finished a refurbishment too and the new look is lovely. Definitely my 1st choice. I had a 6 family members travelling with me on this occasion who changed their bookings from their hotel to this one, purely because of the parking. They had 3 rooms and think this hotel was a great find and will also be their 1st choice in the future. The location in the city is ideal too.

FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.
