Location, good for local attractions.
Decor in reception rooms is dated. No lift available. Bathroom was very small. Bed very uncomfortable.
This hotel is central to the Peak District and is easily accessible. Staff were very helpul and the food was excellent
There is very limited parking and no wifi connection. The Hotel itself needs an update in decoration although the courtyard rooms across the road from the main hotel were very comfortable and well maintained and decorated.
The location was perfect for wandering through the village and for longer walks rambling through the Peak National Park. The room was comfortable, modern and the bed was large!
The shower didn't have enough pressure, parking was difficult as there weren't many spaces - we had to park someone in and return to our car to move it when the person needed to leave, which meant we couldn't stray far! The breakfast was very disappointing - the continental buffet wasn't refilled so we were limited with choices. The staff were not very attentive so we didn't receive our hot breakfast for quite some time and when it arrived it was cold and the scrambled eggs were rubbery. Although my partner had poached eggs and smoked haddock and that looked good!
parking appeared to be limited, though I was fortunate enough to get a spot that didn't get blocked in by other customers.
Nice breakfast. Center of the town.
We arrived 12.30am hungry and merry, after a long day at a wedding, staff helped us with our luggage and prepared excellent sandwiches for us. Our room was spotless and comfortable and breakfast was great.
Location & STaff excellent.
We were in a courtyard room downstairs. The 2nd night the guests upstairs let the outside door bang as they came in a 1am.
10 minute drive to Chatsworth. Bedroom well decorated and bed very comfy.
Breakfast was very poor. Eggs that could have bounced. Staff on the Saturday could not cope and service was very slow.
We were spending the weekend at Chatsworth County fair and this hotel could not have been more convenient. The only problem was they could only accommodate us for one night, we'll book earlier next year!
Very small car park
Breakfast was good
The accommodation was not located within hotel, therefore felt like self catering accommodation. Traffic noisy as main road outside Not value for money
The room was a decent size and it was quiet. Parking was convenient. The bed was comfortable and the room had an iron and ironing board. This was the only place we stayed during our trip that had an iron and ironing board in the room. It was appreciated. The tub was not as clean as it should have been. Overall, it was okay. The lady at the front desk allowed my husband to use some maps she had on hand, which was thoughtful. I'd probably give the hotel a second chance.
I paid extra in order to stay in the main building, but ended up in the Antiques Center building across the street from the main building. The towels were like sand paper and the hot water handle in the tub came off when I tried to turn it on. They charge you a fee for paying with a debit card or credit card. This should be disclosed on Booking.com.
Great breakfast, quality of furnishings such as curtains and coordinated fabrics and colours in the bedroom. Barman was lovely, service excellent
Carpets threadbare in places and very, very dirty. Paintwork awful, giving an air of tackiness. Room small and poor glazing meant a terrible amount of noise from the road. The hotel booking did not read my request for my small dog and at first seemed a bit put out. Very expensive for what was provided.
Central location Pleasant public rooms
Door in bathroom would not shut Bathroom floor excessively sloping No indication that car park is off site
This hotel is so convenient to Chatsworth house and Hadon hall. The breakfast was excellent and the town of Bakewell was picture perfect. By far the most beautifully maintained and set up town we visited during our 2 week stay in England. I wish we had stayed longer.
The evening meal was absolutely excellent and the accomodation was very central to Bakewell.
The breakfast was mainly cold and parts of it was overcooked and not worth paying for. That was the only let down of the stay.
We stayed on the first floor in the annex over the road to the hotel. Our car was parked below our room. The room was a decent size and the block we were in had been renovated and the room was very comfortable with virtually no noise. Bakewell is a lovely small town and we will definately visit again and stay in the hotel
Just be careful at busy times crossing the road to you room but otherwise no problems
Booked for three nights in early August, paying £120 per night for a room in the courtyard. We were given room 21 in courtyard and were bitterly disappointed. Given the price we felt it definitely was not value for money and so asked for a change of room. This was done without question and we opted to move into the main building. This room (8), was large with a four poster bed, nicely appointed, overlooking the main road which meant that there was some traffic noise in the morning but not too off putting. The breakfast was very good indeed. Well prepared and very tasty. Service was good and prompt. We did not have any other meals while staying at the hotel.
Room 21 in the Courtyard. Avoid! Small and gloomy.
Breakfast was good.
Room quite small and en-suite tired. Bed uncomfortable. Lots of road noise. Some staff less friendly than one might expect.
The central location in Bakewell is very good for everything, and it is also central to many other locations in that area of the Peak District. i.e. Chatsworth House, Eyam - the Plague Village, Blue John Cavern, many walks. Staff in the Information centre are very helpful and it is only a couple of minutes walk from the Rutland Arms.
Some rooms are in the Courtyard across the road from the main hotel, which is fine in dry weather, but may present a problem when the weather is inclement. This is also where the resident car parking is located, but this is not made clear in the hotel information.
The atmosphere of the hotel is welcoming, friendly and comfortable.
Parking is a bit of a squeeze.
Rooms were recently refurbished. Everything clean and up to date, excellent firm beds.
Some rooms are acros the street from the main hotel. If it's raining you need your umbrella.
Having our room across the road. Hotel was very nice and the menu looked very good. Will go back and try it out. Breakfast was brill. Gail and Alan from Eckington South Yorkshire.
Nothing to complain about.
Great breakfast....fab bacon and black pudding! Very comfy bed in our room.
If the bar is open there should be someone there to man it....had to search for someone to serve us a couple of times
Pleasant welcome, nice room, clean and comfortable. Efficient booking out.
I ate in the bar in the evening and didn't get everything stated on the menu. Did mention this to the waiter but was not offered any discount or other option as recompense. In the morning, was largely ignored by the breakfast staff, not offered cooked breakfast options.
