The town is dominated by the stunning Byzantine tower; the rest of the town is buzzing with places to eat traditional food. The town itself is not particularly picturesque, but the surrounding beaches, scenery and landscape are majestic. It's good base for exploring the area and for getting boats to other areas as well as Mount Athos.

Great town for food and multicultural experiences.
Great town for food and multicultural experiences. Bad town to be in if it's raining as the power grid immediately fails and there are only a few places that have their own generators. The beach is ok but not that great - as in there are many other better beaches within one hour drive from the town.

If you decide to go to Ouranoupoli is a must to rent a boat.
If you decide to go to Ouranoupoli is a must to rent a boat. The cost is 70 eur/day (without permit) and you can go to Ammouliani and Drenia Islans by your self.
There you can find restaurants with excellent food.
You can stop in any area you want where you can spend some quality time.
I recommend the local pies with vanilla / apples / cheese / spinach...

An excellent starting place to visit Atos Monasteries by males while you (females) swim or sunbathe or drink on the beach :) You can enjoy delicious food or good house wine in various small restaurants along the shore. Advisable to buy olive oil or olives from small local producers on a very good price. Don't miss the wine too.

There are some prejudices about this city.
There are some prejudices about this city. Although I visited this city many times with my wife, we did not encounter anything that would disturb us. It is a very calm and peaceful city and its people are also very kind. Also, the food in the restaurants is very tasty, the prices are reasonable.
I booked this property for one night before I departed for Mount Athos and it was absolutely perfect in any way. The room was new, clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is right at the center and all the key points are within walking distance. There is a 24-hour reception and the staff was really nice. They answered all my questions and I even received a complimentary bottle of water. Just a perfect place considering it offered the one of the cheapest rooms, at the time I was searching for a property in Ouranoupoli.
I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel for one night and I was thoroughly pleased. The room with a balcony offered a breathtaking view of the sea, and it was only a short 12-minute walk from the center. The room itself was immaculate, with modern amenities and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was well-maintained and met my expectations.
I must commend the owner for their exceptional responsiveness and attentiveness to our suggestions for improvement. This level of dedication truly sets this establishment apart.
Nice located boutique accommodation, surrounded by all amenities someone needs, during his stay. Perfectly clean room with an ideal mix of comfort and convenience! Big plus the comfy bed matrix and the nice balcony.
The hosts were super friendly and offered me great tips and recommendations!
Thanks for your great hospitality and certainly, staying with again next time I visit Ouranoupoli
Room recently renovated with private access. Quiet and well positioned not far from all point of interest. Very warm welcome. Everyday cleaning. Easy access to facilities and beaches. Friendly staff and locals. Host really helpful and available for every need. Advised the boat tours to Drenia and Ammouliani islands for crystal water, and Mount Athos. Best place to stay in Ouranoupolis.
Great hotel, I am absolutely satisfied with our stay at Pyrgos! The room was very comfortable, the staff was polite and friendly, gave us a good recommendations about beaches and boat trips in town. The pool was amazing, we had so good time relaxing there under the palm trees with very tasty food and great drying from the bar. Definitely would visit again!
The owner Ana is very kind. Takes care of guests. The position of the hotel is excellent for someone who came to rest away from the noise of the city. The hotel has its own private beach with an excellent bar, where you can have breakfast and lunch. The Internet is not great, as it is nowhere in Greece, but Ana is trying to solve that problem as well.
Everything was good. The reception was great, the communication as well. I'm allergic to dust and moisture, so I asked them to make the room extra clean - that's how it was, I'm very satisfied. The hotel is located on a beautiful beach, the water is clear, and we had a perfect view of the sunset. We went with two babies, and i recommend for families!
Nice, quiet hotel situated in the side street. I had a room in the second floor turned towards the sea so one can sleep evetually with the window opened. The size of the room is good, the beds are OK, one can sit in the small bacony and enjoy the view and atmosphere. All in all this is a excellent hotel to stay in for few days.
Everything in this hotel is just perfect, the rooms, the food, the secluded beach with amazing cristal clear water.. and above all the staff, who rounds the whole experience making it simply amazing with their attention, modesty and kindness. It’s been our second time here and we will for sure return.
A beautiful property in the very center of Ouranoupoli. Five minutes walk away from the restaurants on the beach, the ferry to Mt Athos and the visa office if it’s on your plans.
Remarkably clean and cozy place for a stay in Ouranoupoli.
The room is functional like the one of an Ibis hotel, but with the charm that hotels will never have. The balcony is a window to the Aegean, to the stars, to the gorgeus sunsets. We love that place.
Beautiful small family run hotel- not the Hilton, but clean, comfortable and a short walk to boats and restaurants. And priced very reasonably! Evy and Panos are very kind hosts.
Great family atmosphere. Very kind hosts who cares about every guest. Hotel garden is beautiful and maintained with a lot of passion.
Generaly hotel is solid value for money.
The room was spacious, very clean and was cleaned every day. The stuff was welcoming. The view from the room was nice. Overall it was a good stay in Ouranoupolis.
