Lazaros, hotel in Ágios Matthaíos

Set in Ágios Matthaíos in the Corfu region, Lazaros features a patio. Boasting garden views and a garden, this lodge also has free WiFi.

I can’t recommend this villa highly enough. Location was excellent for what I wanted, quiet & peaceful but close enough to a nice selection of bars & tavernas in the lovely village of Agios Matheous. The host Andreas was very helpful, friendly & informative. I will definitely be back to stay here for a longer duration next time I visit Corfu

Kairaba Mythos Palace - Adults Only, hotel in Ágios Matthaíos

It was great to have a swimming pool, a small private beach and a couple hotel restaurants, as the hotel itself was quite far from civilization. The signature carrot cake definitely left an impression too, so did the staff who were all extremely kind (especially at all the restaurants and breakfast area). Only on the last night we found out that you (probably) don't need a booking to go to the rooftop bar for a drink - recommend to try it out as it has great views :)

Very picturesque village with twisting little alleyways leading up and down the mountainside. A good choice of tavernas selling traditional Greek food, also bars with some selling locally made wine. Sunday was a very busy day, all the locals were out and enjoying a coffee and a chat. Greece at its best

AgiosMatthaios is very atmospheric and scruffy!

AgiosMatthaios is very atmospheric and scruffy! People were friendly and easy-going. A walk through the top of the village gives great views over the mountains. Eating out could be better but every restaurant gives big platefuls of local corfiot food. Sitting outside the Cosmas cafe for a beer would tell you a lot about the villagers and their habits. We would definitely stay again purely for the Greek way of life.

Agios Matthaios is a pretty village, with very warm-hearted locals. It is however, only reasonable to stay there if you have a car if you want to reach any local facilities at all. That includes reaching public transport, since the buses to the village are infrequent, only go to Corfu town, do not run in the evenings nor on Bank holidays or weekends. There are pleasant, hilly walks from the village with beautiful wild flowers, olive groves and sea views. The local (rather scruffy) beach is about an hour's walk away. There is a taverna and a kebab cafe in the village, both reasonably priced and with a varied menu and two small, well'stocked supermarkets to help with self-catering. There is also a delightful olive oil farm just down the road, with an invitation for a free look around and tasting afterwards - and a few things to buy, if you wish of course!

Enjoyed living up in the hills in a small town.

Enjoyed living up in the hills in a small town. Buzzy place with several cafes on the one main road and friendly locals sitting out enjoying the cooler evening air. Interesting walks around the picturesque steep back streets. Small supermarket for everything we needed and lack of tourists making it feel natural and authentic.

Agios Matthaios is a large authentic Greek village set in the mountains with wonderful views of the surrounding areas, There are a number of family run tavernas and shops to sample. The olive farm tour is outstanding - charming, witty and educational with a chance to sample local Greek food and wine and of course olive oil!

Really quaint Greek village a few kilometers in from the sea...

Really quaint Greek village a few kilometers in from the sea - not the easiest to drive through as the roads are very narrow, but then when this was built there probably weren't any cars. Very close to the village is the Governors Olive mill which does tours of the old olive mill and also provides an overview of their current olive processing methods. Well worth a visit.
