Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

In Killarney itself, horse-drawn carts roam narrow streets whose Irish pubs offer great nightlife. Impressive St Mary’s Cathedral has a towering spire and somewhat dark interior. The local gaelic football team play at Fitzgerald Stadium, and more sports can be enjoyed at Killarney riding stables and the nearby golf and fishing club. There is also a popular racecourse.

We've come to Ireland six times in the past 24 years but...
We've come to Ireland six times in the past 24 years but this was our first visit to Killarney. Killarney is very low on our list of places we have been. It's too crowded and touristy for our taste and, quite frankly, the Americans there acted like jerks. (As an American, I can say that.) We stayed for two nights, but could have done with one. I wanted to go to see the Gap of Dunloe, but the major jaunting car company, Killarney Jaunting Cars, did not offer a tour unless you took their Gap of Dunloe adventure package at 115 euro a pop. It was also 115 euro to rent a jaunting car from a private driver which was too expensive. We couldn't even see Torc Waterfall because we couldn't find a place to park our car. It was ridiculous. What we did: a visit to Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey, plus a jaunting car/boat excursion in the Killarney National Forest could have been done in a day. We will not be returning to Killarney again.

So magical, sparkling clean, charming fairytale steets with shopping and pubs. Great food. Too much to see for our 1.5 day stay. Beats Disneyland! As reported from a late 1950s Orange County California native! Must find a way to come back to stay in Killarney and have the time to explore Ring of Kerry in full, Kenmare, spend time doing outdoor activities and enjoy the local horseback riding, boat rides, and so much more. What Ireland dreams are made from!!

Hotel beautiful perfect.
Hotel beautiful perfect. My wife who always traveled with me died earlier this year of MND Disease and I was visiting all the places we you to stay on our trips. As I have already said the parking ticket I got for parking in what I was led to believe was a disabled zone has put a very bad taste in my mouth. I would have to think seriously about visiting Killarney again.

We were very disappointed that the Killarney National Park visitor center and Ross Castle weren’t open and especially that there was no acknowledgement of that on their website. That was our main reason to visit Killarney. Understandable about due to weather, but the visitor center was due to renovations.

When you are traveling to many cities, hotels and experiences seem to blend together. You will not find that at farmyard glamping. Unique location with beautiful surroundings in an idyllic Farmland setting provided a refreshing change of pace for the entire family. This experience stands out among all others on our two-week Ireland trip, and we highly recommend you stay with Kieren at Farm yard Glamping for your next Killarney and Dingle experience. 10/10
The hotel was in a beautiful location, the staff was the friendliest i’ve encountered in any hotel environment. They really took care of me and in my personal day to day plans like asking if I needed taxi service or anything else i could possibly need. The breakfast was incredible. We had dinner at the in house restaurant rozzers and it was the best food i’ve had in Ireland.
The Victoria was amazing. The beds were SOOOOO comfortable and cozy!! Maura (check-in staff) and Sheila (breakfast service staff) deserve raises!! Donal (Donald), the night porter, was lovely. The Ivy Restaurant has the best fish & chips in Ireland. We know, because we have tried them everywhere. Quiet location - a bit out of town but closer to the Muckross House/Abbey.
What a delight to arrive after a long day driving to a warm welcome.
Lovely warm comfortable room. Everything was perfect for the solo guest.
Onsite parking much appreciated.
7.30 am Breakfast was served at my request , freshly cooked in cheerful dining room. Great location few mins walk from Killarney town centre.
I have rebooked for my next business trip. 10/10
Had an enjoyable stay in the Killarney Randles Hotel. I found the location to be ideal as the hotel is located a short walk from the town centre and only about a 15-minute walk from the INEC where I was attending a concert. The small single room I stayed in was fine and had good ensuite facilities. Would have no hesitation in staying in the hotel again.
Expensive stay considering distance from town centre, breakfast not included. Reception and housekeeping staff were top notch. Met one absolute grumpy young one in the bar. Total disinterest in taking our drinks order. No personality. Was outright rude. So disappointing as puts you in bad mood right from start.
Fabulous hotel set in gorgeous grounds, with beautiful walks around the hotel and nearby. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast had plenty of choice to suit all tastes and expectations. The staff were warm, polite, friendly and professional. A short walk to the town centre (15 mins stroll)
The house was fabulous. It had everything you could possibly need from dishwasher tablets to an umbrella. It's in walking distance from both the national park and the town centre. The hotel next door was also very handy for a quick coffee or meal. We would highly recommend this property.
The room was excellent (we upgraded to the Executive Suite). The locationj of the hotel was in the center of the city and we were able to sample a variety of pubs and live music. The breakfast was the best we have had in our 4 days traveling around Ireland.
A wonderful location, with an easy five minute walk into the town centre. Plenty of parking on site. A lovely spacious room with modern decor, beautiful comfortable bed and excellent bathroom. One of the nicest rooms we stayed in during our time in Ireland.
Beautiful hotel bang n killarney town centre, underground car park also limited spaces, food was delicious and so was breakfast, rooms where clean and comfy beds, free water and slippers in the room was highly appreciated.
Great location, easy walk to the town centre. Lovely staff and very nice room. I didn’t get to enjoy the breakfast, but the setup looked great! :) I appreciated the local recommendations for dinner/ a pint.
Nice stay in a hotel at the edge of Killarney town centre. Nice staff with quick check-in and out process with no issues.
Had meal in restaurant in the evening. Service was quick and food was very nice.
All the staff were very friendly and warm. The decor is very ornate. Breakfast service was fast and watching the team work was a wonder. Location okay, 10-15 minute walk from the town centre.
Probably the best 5 star, family run hotel in Ireland. We have been coming here for 28 years and it never fails to impress. The location, rooms, staff, facilities - all are excellent.
Location is great: a few steps to the National Park and the town centre. Perfectly working wi-fi. Spacious parking.
Extremely clean and well maintained. Sheila's scones are the best!
The location is perfect for town Centre, secure parking, the staff very friendly, room perfect, lovely shower, a lovely Hotel and definitely will stay there again. Benny. Fahey
