Myra is a lovely host. Our room was perfect for the night after touring the Ring of Kerry. The room had a spacious area with a single bed and separate area with double bed with bathroom. Very comfortable. We added breakfast to our stay and it was delicious! Thanks Myra.

Welcoming environment, friendly staff, clean room with everything we needed, tidy property all around, adequate parking, nice breakfast…and most of all, Liz. After breakfast, Liz took the time to (voluntarily) sit with us and plan out our adventures for the day. Her insight and passion for what the area has to offer made our journey more memorable than we could have imagined! In addition to Liz, Martin and Leo in the bar treated us with utmost respect and humor.
Boasting a spacious garden, Alderwood House is located 2.5 mi from the village of Castlemaine, on the Dingle Penninsula along the Wild Atlantic Way.

We wish we could’ve stayed more than one night. We should’ve used it as a hub for multiple nights. It exceeded our expectations, from booking.com I thought we were just getting one of many rooms at a home. We ended up getting a whole suite and breakfast in the morning. We were stuffed from the wonderful breakfast. We can’t believe how much Tim does to ensure a great meal and experience.

I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s).
I was happy with the accommodation and the local pub(s). However, please note that this is all in a small hamlet called Boolteens, which is about 3 miles from Castlemaine, so you don't need to visit the latter!

I noticed the host had dried out another family's coats for them (yes, it was raining!). She was very welcoming.
The B & B was all you would hope for, and to top it, the restaurant/bar next door was great for food and relaxing in. (And, there's another bar over the road for Sky sports if you want to bet on a horse!)
Castlemaine has a statue of The Wild Colonial Boy.

We visited Tralee a few times and we were delighted with the places we ate. We had a lovely meal in both La Scala and Yummy. We also went to Camp, Castlegregory and visited The Maharees. We found our way home through the Connor Pass. The views were breath taking.

This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland.
This was the 1st night of our stay in Ireland. Willie can't be matched for his knowledge of Ireland and hilarious stories. He is the epitome of a gracious Irishman and host. Our stay at Castlemaine was a great experience. People everywhere we went in the area were very friendly and helpful. Nearby Cobn was colorful and interesting. Dinner in the Commodore Hotel bar was delicious. More places to visit than we could squeeze in with two days.
We stayed two days in Alderwood house with my partner and it was a wonderful experience. We were in our own private wing in the house with a big bedroom, a bathroom and a separate livingroom with free netflix! Tim prepared us an amazing breakfast and he even brought us cookies prepared by his daughter in the evening. He helped us with anything we needed (indications, the plug adaptator I forgot...). I would definetly recomend this B&B over any hotel or other B&B in the zone.
A great base to explore the Dingle Peninsula, Killarney or Tralee. The breakfast is fab cooked by Tim who is an amazing host who goes the extra mile for his guests. He brought me a honey and lemon drink to help soothe a persistent cough. We were in the Mountain suite which has a separate sitting area with a TV and a wide selection of books. Tim had also provided a bottle of wine and some sparkling water in the fridge. I highly recommend a stay at Alderwood House.
Farm house is old but well kept, very charming and fresh decor. Our room was very cozy and had everything we needed to rest and be ready for our next day. I especially liked the ability to control the temperature of our room as we arrived soaking wet. Breakfast was home cooked, made to order and delicious. The town is very small, but the pubs are perfect for dinner.
Catriona and family always pleasure to stay with .It's in such tranquil location great place to find restful sleep no sound of traffic only soothing sounds of nature .Truly magnificent house and decors so lovely in rooms too very cosy and has great peace in this house .I'll be back to stay here again in coming months when I'm back in Kerry .
The accommodation is in a great location for activities around Killarney! The room and the whole complex were very well maintained and clean. But best of all are the two hosts! They gave me great tips and recommendations. I will miss our morning conversations ;-) Thank you very much!
quiet area to relax. perfect location to do Dingle Pass and Ring of Kerry. Hosts was very accommodating. made fresh brown bread which was left for us at check in. Made tarts fresh and again gave us a couple. Very accommodating! Would book again next time we are in Ireland!
Stand out points:
John as the host - genial and amusing
Comfort of the bed - best sleep I've had for many a day
Spacious room - ample stowage and tea/coffee facilities
Lovely breakfast photo attached - toast was added seconds later
Location to Ring of Kerry etc
Wow! What an amazing stay! The location was perfect for exploring the Ring of Kerry or Dingle. Our host, Catriona, was delightful. And tons of little extras were included that made the house a home. The room is much larger than the pictures look.
I loved the family who took such good care of us. I especially loved having you Mrs.Murphy greet us at the door. I stayed there 35 years ago and she was our greeter then as well. The house has been renovated perfectly and we love the area also.
Excellent place, spotless, very well equipped, comfortable , great location for exploring Killarney and the Ring of Kerry. Superb communication from hosts. Easy checkin and out. Looking forward to returning
A really comfortable house. Well equipped kitchen with washing machine and dryer. Private car parking/garden, ideal for evening BBQ! Great location for touring both Dingle Peninsula and Ring of Kerry.
The BEST place we’ve yet stayed in Ireland. Clean room and bathroom, excellent shower, lovely views, comfortable beds. Definitely would stay here again. Bernadette runs a fantastic B&B
Nice comfortable house, all essentials provided. Great location for exploring Kerry. Loved the off street secure parking, lovely pub restaurant in walking distance.
