Lovely old hotel with a rustic charm. Nice furniture to give it an exclusive feel. the view from our room was amazing with stunning views of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius. Nice terrace restaurant, very helpful pleasant staff.
Very little, the hotel is situated on a hill about a 15/20 minute walk into Sorrento We found the walk from and back to the hotel no problem, those with mobility difficulties would need to use a taxi service which we heard could be expensive.
Great size rooms & modern bath; gorgeous views from rooms and terraces; nestled on a hill among olive grove overlooking entire Sorrento bay and on to Naples. Really kind & helpful family management. Easy to go into Sorrento by car or long walking path. Loved it all! Value Deal was great price!
Keep working with managing restaurant staff....but food was good!
The location is great and the hotel is lovely. Very nice staff and the food was good quality. We enjoyed our stay and it suited our needs.
Nothing to complaint
The location - far enough away from the noise of the town centre, but near enough to walk to everything - situated in a a delightful garden - with fantastic views over the bay.
Fabulous view and great location away from the crowds but only a short walk down the hill to the town. Parking availability an added bonus.
Quite hard to find even with sat-nav.
Delightful, helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms in which everything worked. Room with a view of Vesuvius and the Bya of Naples. Many pleasant spots to sit outside. Nice swimming pool.
The location may not suit everybody as it is up a hill, out of town, although accessible by local bus. (We were fit enough to cope with a 25 minute walk to and from town) The restaurant seemed to cater mostly for British package tourists and needed to know at breakfast time what you wanted for dinner.(We preferred to eat out so cannot comment on the meals)
Being an ex monastery, this place had a serene ambience. It is located on the hill overlooking the hustle and bustle of Sorrento from a position of quietness amongst a large olive grove. Ideal for independant travelers with plenty of parking. Enjoyed the swimming pool and the stunning views from the terrace where one can eat. Our room had an excellent view looking down on Sorrento. We left the window open and turned the aircon off...fantastic. Staff were soooo helpful, especially Michela.
A nice, spacious room with a magnificent view to Sorrento and the Naples bay. Pretty cozy and quiet at night. Nice and friendly staff.
It was actually fine with me but something you should keep in mind if you plan to stay in La Badia: the hotel is on pretty high hill above the town, so you have to climb a steep serpentine on your way to the hotel. May consider it as gym included. :-)
Lovely spacious garden
Situated on a hill over looking the bay of Naples. Just a 10 minute walk or so down the hill to the historic center. Staff very accommodating and always available. Room had large arched sea view windows with view of Mount Vesuvuis . Same floor had a large terrace overlooking the beautiful bay and city. Stayed four nights and ate at the terraced restaurant 3 of the nights. Food was excellent. European breakfast was included. Nice quite atmosphere with plenty of outdoor space and swimming pool. Great to relax after 10 days in Germany and Rome.
No wash cloths to wash your body in the shower. Beds are hard as with most in Europe.
Gorgeous setting and very attentive staff, especially regarding my special dietary needs with gluten intolerance.
Great staff Wonderful location Beautiful building and grounds
We enjoyed the situation of the hotel, on a hill above Sorrento with fabulous views of Naples Bay and Vesuvius, a pool and lovely areas to sit and relax. It was away from the hustle and bustle of the town but Sorrento was easily reached by a path in 10- 15 minutes. You could also walk in 30 minutes to another small beach resort.
When we were there the hotel was dominated by a large group from Riviera Travel of people aged on average 65-75, although this wasn't really a problem. As independent travellers we were in the minority but this was also not an issue, the staff gave very helpful advice. Sorrento is an excellent centre for using public transport to reach Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi etc by train, bus or boat The only real problem could be if one found walking difficult, then returning to the hotel uphill would be difficult and taxis in the evening are expensive. The food at the hotel while fine was not that exciting.
Lovely location. Great views. Within walking distance of Sorrento.
We were looking forward to having our breakfast on the terrace but was informed that we are unable to do that as there are bedrooms below the terrace. Staff showed very little flexibility.
Hotel La Badia is an old-fashioned hotel which appeals to English couples 'of a certain age', but I think it would be suitable for a family group with children who would like the pool and the opportunity to explore the extensive grounds. We enjoyed our stay at La Badia very much.
La Badia is about 20 mins. walk down a steep but well-maintained path from the edge of Sorrento, another 10 mins. into the town proper, which is OK if you are energetic, but after a hot day exploring the interesting back streets of the town or taking a bus to Amalfi, we found we needed to take a taxi back (17 Euros). On our final day we discovered there was a bus that stopped near the hotel, but no-one had mentioned this! The charming receptionist should have information like that available, with time tables etc.
Everything. Location. Staff. Meals. Facilities
A bit far to walk to the city. No internet in the rooms
A great location on the hillside, with panoramic view from Sorrento peninsula and Capri across the bay of Naples to Vesuvius and edge of Sorrento. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The wifi was useless. There was only one English channel on the TV. Not so many buses up to the hotel.
Most everything was excellent. The reception people, wait staff, and owner were all very accommodating to make sure everything was wonderful at this former villa. And it was. Highly recommend room 35. Great view of the Med and Sorrento harbor.
Need to have more transportation options with the shuttle particularity at night. Perhaps pickup at the Old Gate every every hour from 7 to 10. It is a long walk from Tasso square to the bottom of the hill after a nice meal with an expensive cab ride from the bottom of the hill. Or a very expensive cab ride from Tasso Square. Just a suggestion.
This hotel has the best view to Vesuvia, several nice/cosy terasses and a garden, small but OK and clean pool. Very good vindows blocked all noice (which was not bad except for cars occasional honking) and when you opned them you mostly heard birds. Aircon efficient and quite. Short walk to Sorento. "Simpel" but very good food. But the real hit was the outstanding yet relaxed service from the staff, and the friendly, family like atmosphere. This is a real pearl to the price.
The welcome was warm and friendly. Michela gave us a thorough overview of the property and area. Marisa, the owner was absolutely lovely. Everyone was so dedicated to serving and willing to help with anything at all. After a stressful journey, I felt as though I stepped into a calm oasis. My worries and stress melted away as soon as I breathed the fresh air and gazed at the view of the sea and town below.
It is a bit out of the way and as a first time visitor to Sorrento I didn't realize it would be so challenging to get there from the train. My mistake was not calling ahead for them to arrange a taxi for us. They made our arrangements for our return and our taxi was a Mercedes for 1/2 the price the city taxi charged us to get there. Had we followed our hosts email instructions, we could have avoided this problem. Once we got our bearings and did what our hosts suggested, it was simple.
Great setting and good views across the bay. Very welcoming and friendly staff
The staff were so friendly they went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay. Beautiful hotel with panoramic views.
Maria and the Hotel Staff were amazing. This hotel was our favorite in Italy. The view of the Amalfi coast from our hotel room was spectacular. Be sure to ask for a room with the view. The charm of this hotel was special. We definitely will return.
position, hotel grounds, family run, friendly helpful staff, lovely swimming pool with great views
Poor shower, breakfast should be taken outside on the hotel balcony restaurant
The view across the bay, Naples, Mount Vesuvius and Sorrento. The staff were very friendly. The dinner was very good. The pool gets evening sun. The room was so pretty and traditional and there was a couple peaceful terraces to sit on and admire the view. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
A taxi from Sorrento to the hotel is 25 euros, had we known this we would have walked for sure, it's 10 minutes down but double that back up because of the hill. Still worth it for the view though!
