This was our second visit to Utsumi.
This was our second visit to Utsumi. Mid-week it is very quiet, but we are told that at the weekend it is packed. So we were happy to be there midweek. We stayed at the Hiyoshien ryokan and ate there since we had half board. We didn't need any other meals! We had previously eaten at the Flower Lounge Hotel where there was a good set lunch for JPY 1000 (see photos). We enjoyed walking along the beach on the promenade (no need to get sand in your shoes).SStephen GosdenJapan - 10Scored 10

This trip happened at the tail-end of Covid (June, 2020). This probably provided a very different experience - the beach was practically empty, and there were only a handful of guests at the hotel. It was quiet and peaceful even though it was the beginning of summer beach season. With Covid cases decreasing and the state of emergency lifted, I have no doubt this will become a bustling summer location again.SJNagoyaJapan
