Cambodia has successfully dusted itself off from the ravages of war with its colourful capital of Phnom Penh rising from the ashes and sparkling once more. This fascinating city, on the banks of the Mekong River, features exotic markets, cultural jewels and is home to some of the friendliest people on earth.
A visit to the National Museum captures a slice of Cambodia’s ancient Khmer history and art. A different and more recent history suffocates and overwhelms visitors to Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the former prison of the Khmer Rouge, and The Killing Fields are a short drive from the capital.
The Royal Palace is a striking centrepiece in the centre of Phnom Penh, and is home to the Emerald Buddha and Silver Pagoda. Not far away is the Cambodian Independence Monument that celebrates Cambodia’s sovereignty.

It's a nice enough city, a bit busy with motorbikes and tuk-tuks. Airline agencies were a bit difficult to locate, to phone, to even open the doors!
MY biggest surprise was the quantity of plastics thrown into fields and drains out of town. Little wonder that the sea is becoming polluted!
The Royal Palace and gardens are quite a place to see.

Take a trip on the river at sunset. Visit the Silk Farm.
Take a trip on the river at sunset. Visit the Silk Farm. Be amazed at the TukTuk & Moped traffic & hectic city life. See, but then leave behind, the over-development of high-rise buildings and area around Diamond Island. Eat at Le Langka - great French Restaurant, lovely people. Drink at the bar next door, behind the Cola machine!

We really enjoyed our trip to Phnom Penh, we traveled as a family of 6 and had a wonderful local tuk-tuk driver that managed to fit us all in lol that was truly an experience!! He took us to many places and we were able to experience Phnom Penh in a way we didn't expect which was amazing.
We stayed at the Peninsula Phnom Penh which was great value for money and a beautiful place to come back to at the end of the day. The rooftop pool was fantastic and live music was a wonderful bonus.

It's pretty much a business city.
It's pretty much a business city. For something more cultural consider going to Siem Reap. When traveling within any of the cities in Cambodia, I would recommend using "PassApp." It operates much like Bolt which looks at your current GPS location, and asks where you want to go to. You can then select the mode of transportation. The tuktuks in Cambodia have all been modernized, but are quite small compared with Thailand. They can comfortably fit 2 people and a couple of small suitcases in the back. You might fit 3 people at a stretch. If you select "Rickshaw" it's the old style tuktuk which is basically a trailer hooked to a motorcycle. These are much more expansive and can fit 6 people and a couple of good sized suitcases. Otherwise they have standard passenger cars and SUVs available as well. DO NOT engage a driver directly from the street by flagging them down. You WILL get ripped off. If you use the app, the price is fixed and you won't get ripped off. Another thing to watch out for is most cash machines allow you to received US dollars or Camobian Real. If you select USD, you'll probably get a single $100 bill. There are a lot of fake bills floating around and your $100 might get refused. Also, most of the small vendors don't have the change for $100 so you're stuck. My advice is to receive money on Cambodian Real for the most flexibility. The exchange rate fluctuates wildly, so be sure to check daily and be prepared to do the calculations quickly!
This was our fifth visit to Raffles. For us it is the only place to stay in Phnom Penh. The hotel is gorgeous, and a peaceful respite from a charming but hectic city. The pool area is a wonderful place to relax. Breakfast on the terrace is the perfect start to the day. The staff are fabulous, friendly and welcoming and so helpful. It was my birthday during our stay and the staff went out of their way to make it special. Greatly appreciated. We are already planning our next visit!
A great short stay hotel right in the middle of the city. The hotel has everything you need, centralized location, friendly staff, comfy bed, good air-conditioning and free of charge breakfast.
A plus point for me is their decoration, i like how they incorporated khmer tradition into their room and public area decoration. I definitely feel comfortable and cozy in this hotel and will return again during my next visit to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Season residence is a great place to stay in Phnom Penh. We loved using it as our base to explore the city. The apartment is spacious and clean. It feels great to have a simple living room to stretch out in and the separate bedroom. The bathroom is clean, shower warm and the attached laundry room is a perfect bonus for doing some wash. We didn’t use the kitchen but that, and a fresh water tank, is available for you. Would highly recommend!
Our room was big and clean, on the 10th floor, had a great-working air conditioning and a beautiful bathroom. We stayed in the HM Grand-suite due to a good off-season offer, but it would not be called a suite in a western hotel, more like a superior/deluxe room.
The rooftop bar had good cocktails and a great view over the city.
Nice with swimming pool (incl bar) and gym.
Good location in walking distance from most of the city centre.
This has been the best hotel I stayed at during my 2 weeks visit to Cambodia. The staff was extremely helpfull, the room is very cousy with all the facilities you need, the room was extremly clean and fresh with nice view to the local neighbourhood. . As the windows didnt face the street it was very quite as well. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars around.
Clean, spacious room with interesting view. Good AC and comfortable bed.
Very kind and helpful Staff.
Great breakfast with Asian and continental selection of food. Our best breakfast in Cambodia so far.
Also they have very good restaurant with reasonable prices.
We rented scooter from the hotel and it was good. Staff close the motorbikes in the garage for the night.
Very very good location, can see the Royal Palace from the window in the room and take a walk by the riverside. The decorations and facilities are modern and the shower is extremely excellent. There’s a tube coffee beside the hotel and we enjoyed the Cambodian brand’s coffee with riverside view. Very happy and satisfied with this hotel and proud of my wisdom choice.
The hotel is on great location as between night market and Royal palace at riverside. Great accommodation as clean room. Comfortable to stay, kind and helpful staff, in out door with lifted. Ground floor has a beautiful and nice Indian restaurant with large menu of authentic south and north Indian food, love to stay on this hotel. We surely back and recommended.
A very spacious and extremely comfortable hotel suite in a very central location in Phnom Penh. Close to the Royal Palace but in a relatively quiet street.
The breakfasts were the best we had in Cambodia - so much variety, fresh and tasty.
Late check out was very handy as well.
The staff were very polite and helpful.
Great place to stay in while you are visiting Phon Penh. The hotel and all amenities in it are fantastic. The staff is also very kind , smiled and helpful. You really have the impression you are staying in a boutique place which actually this hotel is. They also served a la carte breakfast, which was super delicious.
Excellent comfortable stay with lovely staff. Pet friendly. Breakfast was wonderful; cafe is very cute. Outside pool area is very nice. Pool was also suprisingly cool despite the extremely hot weather plaguing Cambodia this time of year. Very welcomed. Highly recommended classic hotel - a little oasis.
Good position in front of the National Museum and the Royal Palace. Close to downtown and many restaurants and bars. The rooftop bar of the hotel was very nice in the evening. The breakfast on the 15th floor had quite the view on the city, and the Cambodian carved wood furniture added some charme.
The staff is excellent and the location is superb, rooms are neat and clean and hygienic It is convenient to reach Royal Palace of Cambodia, Night market, Beautiful view of Riverside. Best of all is the Taste of Indian very delicious food which I would love to have it here... I recommend this.
This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in anywhere. On a par with a 5 star hotel in Warsaw and a couple of other hotels in Hong Kong and USA. It was that good! And well above some 4/5 star hotels. Staff were great. Room was superb.
It is an older hotel in a lively part of Phnom Penh. The room was quiet. It was probably very up market when it opened but it is somehat faded now. I am afraid the breakfast was a little cold and not the best I have ever had,
I and my family like to stay here always, good location, staff and food. We need to walk a bit from the hotel to Palaces and markets or mart. It was perfect location in the city to stay. I would recommend to other.
Location. Staff. Comfort. Food. View. Pool. I don’t even know why I attempt stays at other hotels in Phnom Penh. This is THE place to stay. A bit expensive but you get what you pay for.
Rooms are comfortable especially the better suites. Very clean, good breakfast and dinners. Staff very pleasant and services were very good. One of the best hotels in Cambodia.
