English is not widely spoken so best to know some Russian or Kazakh or have a local friend/ partner, but you can get by mostly. Download InDriver app to get good rates on taxis, or Yandex or Uber! When I arranged taxi at airport they were trying to charge 10000T which is 5-6 times the right price, called hotel again and lady arranged taxi from hotel to collect me. Cannot thank her enough, went above and beyond her duty to assist me, very much appreciated!
