The room is lovely, and we love sitting on the balcony or the roof enjoying our glass of wine or morning coffee. You can just see the water and island beyond from the roof top patio.. The location is easy to access by car with gated parking across the small street (locked at night), and then a quick, easy walk over to the town square and mission church. I love being able to hear the church bell's early in the morning!

The location is the best. Top restaurants right outside the hotel. The property felt more like a private condo than a hotel.

Based on only 2 days in Loreto, we enjoyed the central plaza with its old church, great dining opportunities - we tried Mi Loreto and Mita Gourmet. Also took a boat tour around Coronado Island - highly recommended. Charming ambience, friendly people.

Small town, very friendly and helpful people.
Small town, very friendly and helpful people. Lots of tour vendors and shops, but no one is pushy. Walked about 20 minutes away from tourist area to a very good restaurant - Domingo's. Worth the walk. Easy to find, felt safe all the way.

After a couple of days there, we looked up crime statistics.
After a couple of days there, we looked up crime statistics. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the average number of crimes committed in the city was almost none! We walked home at night, since everything was within walking distance, stopped and had tacos from vendors on the streets. It was the most peaceful place, we’ve already booked our return trip in July.

Loreto surpassed our expectations.
Loreto surpassed our expectations. The scenery to and into Loreto is breathtaking. The scenery to the San Javier mission is stunning. The 17th century mission and it's history is well worth travelling to see. Loreto was worth the 4.5 hour drive from La Paz, where we are living for six months. We will definitely return to hike the Mesquite Canyon trail and take a trip to isle of Coronado to see the see lions and birds. Not a big snorkeler, but relaxing on the beach will be ok for me. We wanted to extend our visit for an extra day, but we forgot my husband's medication.

My situation might be a little different than most travelers...
My situation might be a little different than most travelers because I drove down from Calif with friends that live in Loreto and who knew the best places to go, so everywhere I went with them was great. Favorite bar and margarita at Vics. Pablano for tacos. All the restaurants around the Mission are very good. Coffee, sodas and water are expensive often as much as the main course. There are many renovations and improvements to the historic Mission district in Loreto on-going. The beach adjacent to the lighthouse is wonderful and the esplanade along the waterfront is very nice to walk. Great airport, very small, but very nice.

If you are not into fishing a long weekend would do.
If you are not into fishing a long weekend would do. It is a small town and can be expensive, but not as expensive as Cabo. We went for six days and it was our first time. There are tours also, but pricey. We walked around town and took the San Javier Mission tour and the Coronado island tour. Had a good time. People in Loreto were very friendly and at no time did we fear for our safety. We will go back again. Gods willing.
The host, Maria Elena, is very friendly and eager to help you have a good stay - despite the fact we don't speak Spanish, we were able to communicate our questions and requests via the Booking.com translator and she was always very prompt to respond. The location is very central for whatever you want to do in Loreto and the accommodation was spacious enough for two people for nine days and there is good security over the access to the properties. . Overall, I would say it is a pretty good choice for a stay in Loreto.
We live in Baja. Our visits to Loreto are both business and social. Once there we like to walk to as many locations as possible. Cabanas was perfect for that. Great location! The owner greeted us and visited at length with my husband. "Benny" is a VERY nice person. If it is important to you--he speaks little English (not important to us). The 4 units all face a beautiful garden. Ours was very "efficient"--small, but all necessities were there. Overall, it was one of the best trips to Loreto we have ever had!
Haydee was very welcoming & helpful. Thank you so much for accommodating us in a larger unit. It was so much more comfortable for a 10 day stay. The staff is very friendly. The place was very clean & modern with muffins & bottles of water on arrival & daily coffee. The rooftop deck with views of the city was a great place to relax. Locked parking at night is a bonus. This is definitely the best place to stay in Loreto.
Rooms matched the photos exactly.
I had the smaller room which was fine, but a weird layout.
My travel partner had the larger room which was nicer and obviously was more spacious.
Wifi was good and fast enough, shower was hot and nice.
The hotel has a garden to sit in with a big bird cage full of budgies. Really nice to look at.
Then neighborhood is quiet and there is a convenience store around the corner.
Spotlessly clean, comfortable, quiet, and equipped with everything we could possible need during our stay. There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the apartment, that made our stay that much nicer. Staff were very helpful and friendly as well, and we appreciated the convenient location for exploring downtown Loreto and area on foot. Would highly recommend!
1697 is small boutique hotel in Midtown Loreto. It's location is central to lots of great restaurants and shopping with local vendors. The hotel is modern and very clean. The layout is intimate with a small pool in a central courtyard area. It's perfect for a multi-family stay or for a couple. The breakfast was just right.
This is our favorite hotel in Baja. Every detail has been addressed perfectly. The room was large, the beds comfortable, the bathroom great, and the AC working well. The pool and hot tub are lovely, and having the restaurant on site is a bonus. Every member of the staff is friendly and helpful.
This is a wonderful little oasis near the malecon and centro Loreto. The casitas are situated around the perimeter of the pool under the palms. Heavenly. They are located within walking distance of the mission, great restaurants and shopping.
Location ! Walk out of my room to see Loreto Bay, no comparison. Gaby at the office is so helpful, pleasant and nice. Rooms are super clean with attention to detail. The bungalows are like apartments with full kitchen, dining & living area.
I like the location nearer the center of Loreto. It is not on the water, but it is not a long walk. Quiet, secure. Easy walk to plaza. Close to Tacos el Rey and Orlando's, two of our preferred places to eat in Loreto.
Hotel is located inside of an exclusive area with private security; the surroundings are well maintained, the beach is at short walking distance, Hotel is new and clean. Will definitely come back.
Beautiful place to stay in Loreto. Very romantic lodges with a superb interior design. Easily beats any of the hotels in the area. Offers a nice patio for outdoor cooking or a romantic evening.
Hotel Casa Mangos was beautiful, comfortable and within walking distance of the malecon and el Centro. Liz, the owner, was friendly, accommodating and easy to contact with.
Room was clean and comfortable. Location in the main town square was great. Welcome drink in the bar/restaurant attached to the hotel. Terrace was a good size.
