Golden Phoenix Hotel - Manila, hotel in Manila

Located in Pasay City, Golden Phenix Hotel - Manila offers modern and elegant accommodations with free WiFi access throughout the property.

I stayed here in July 2023 for a family reunion and again this past April for a couple of days. And my wife and I have agreed this is the best hotel we've stayed at. The price is a bit more but you can't beat the location, clean rooms and helpful/friendly staff. A lot of hotels tend to give you trouble for smoking areas. Which personally is important to me. But they have designated areas for this. Also, a mini mall is just down the road and around 10 minutes from MOA. If possible, we will book this hotel first in the future. Also, the pictures on the site match the rooms. This is something we ran into with other hotels that pictures didn't match the room. TLDR - clean rooms, good AC, has safe, fridge, helpful/friendly staff, has smoking area and good location for malls and restaurants.

FAQs about hotels in Manila

The City of Our Affections

With a rich mix of influences from Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American cultures, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic center. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonization, Manila became an important city, known as the "Pearl of the Orient."

Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.

Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila “The City of Our Affections,” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.

Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.

For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City.

Most People just arrive at Manila Airport, and fly to another Island in Phillippinen. But if you really stay in Manila City, you should know about, what is waiting for you. You will see a lot of poor people, living on the street, you will smell in some places Urin/toilette making on the street, and as a white foreigner from Europe or America, you become the main focus when walking on the street. Manila is not for a cozy and comfortable City-Trip. Its an experience at extreme situations. But when you are esspecially looking for this, to expand your horizon, then go for it. The Phillippinen People have a friendly and open heart. But also be aware of people, who wants to call you a Taxi or give you a Hotel. They take you 10 times more Money, than a taxi-ride will cost. Go to the street by yourself, and you will find a lot of Taxi. If you already have a Phillippinen SIM-Card (from the Airport), then you can download the "Grap-App", a Car sharing System, where private drivers offer you a cheap ride to any place within Manila. Payment is always cash at the driver, and the price is written before. The Climate is very hot for White People. Bring an Umbrella for Sun Protection, and use places with Air Condition for recover your Body-System (Mall of Asia). It depends what you want to do in Manila, but 5 days are really enough, to get a full impression of this Special City in our World here.

It seems to be a way of life, but Manila is congested with pollution & traffic. Will there be a solution to these problems when the earth is on the verge of destruction? Global warming is real,& it’s on us to take this matter seriously. My 2 weeks stay in the Philippines was horrible due to the unprecedented hot temperature that I have to think twice whether it’s worth visiting the place soon. Constructions of buildings are everywhere that there is an imbalance on natural beauty as a whole. There is purely greed for sure.

Manila, is the capital and second-most-populous city of the...

Manila, is the capital and second-most-populous city of the Philippines. Located on the eastern shore of Manila Bay on the island of Luzon, it is classified as a highly urbanized city. As of 2019, it is the world's most densely populated city proper. It was the first chartered city in the country, and was designated as such by the Philippine Commission Act No. 183 on July 31, 1901. It became autonomous with the passage of Republic Act No. 409, "The Revised Charter of the City of Manila", on June 18, 1949. Manila is considered to be part of the world's original set of global cities because its commercial networks were the first to extend across the Pacific Ocean and connect Asia with the Spanish Americas through the galleon trade; when this was accomplished, it was the first time an uninterrupted chain of trade routes circling the planet had been established.

    Manila has good food.

Manila has good food. Try halo-halo to help you with the hot weather here For transport I would recommend booking through ride hailing apps for safer and smoother transactions. Avoid those white regular taxis. You can book Grab for convenient car ride around the Metro, motorcycle option (Move It, Angkas, Joyride) is also common in Manila bec of the traffic. Food delivery is also available in the Grab app with lots of options. For clothing, the usual H&M, Zara, Nike, etc. is everywhere, for local brands you can try taking home from Bench or Penshoppe which is cheaper and good quality Airport, make sure to be there earlier since immigration and check in counters can be very long and slow. Can be very traffic going there as well Avoid walking around sketchy places and neighborhoods especially at night. BGC, Ortigas and Makati are pretty safe places Card payment available almost everywhere, except of course on street food and jeepneys/buses/train Tipping, not mandatory unlike other countries but staff/crew would be glad to accept anything

Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City.

Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City. The US Dollar to Philippine Peso exchange rate was favorable to US travelers, so meals, taxis/Grab ride-shares and hotel prices were made more affordable. Tons and tons of restaurants and entertainment options available just about everywhere you go. Spas and massages are very reasonably priced, and so are beauty and nail salons. There are at least 4 major casinos: Okada, City of Dreams, Solaire and Newport (?). Dampas are a must for first time travelers-this is a place where you buy your seafood from a fresh market and take your purchase to a nearby restaurant to have them cooked to your specifications (for a separate fee, of course). Shopping malls are numerous and a great draw for crowds, especially on weekends. Post-COVID major name entertainment is coming back, but still a little on the slow side at this point.

The hotel was conveniently located in Makati. The staff, from the security officer that greeted me to the front desk to room service, was courteous, helpful and professional. The staff were incredible, so friendly and attentive. Probably the best staff in any hotel I've been in around the world. An additional friend came through Manila while I was staying there, and we were able to get an extra bed/amenities in the room for a few nights for a reasonable fee, which was a big help. The best part of I’M Hotel is its staff. Everyone from the doormen to the front desk, the dining folks, room service, housekeeping, and the team at the rooftop bar were welcoming, warm, and professional. Great hotel for the price. Excellent location. Very close to SM mall of Asia & the airport. We landed in Manila at 1am and checked out by 1pm the next day (it was only a stopover until our flight to Palawan) but I would definitely return if we return to the Philippines in the future. Staff were nice and friendly and the rooms were clean. It’s far from luxury but it was perfect for what we needed it for.

The room was spacious. The hotel is in a convenient location opposite the mall and with fast food restaurants,.7 Eleven and Starbucks nearby. It took 30 mins to get to and from the hotel from the airport by taxi. This was my first night in the Philippines so I had nothing to compare it to. I had a great view of Manila and Makati. Was great to see the rain pass over the city. Bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. Very peaceful hotel. The cleaning staff looked after me for the three weeks in total I stayed there.

One of my favourite hotels in Manila. Friendly staff, great service, good breakfasts. I was pleasantly surprised to get a free pick-up from the airport. The pool is wonderful, a great escape from the chaos and heat of Manila.

The hotel is ok for a solo traveler for one night. Close to the airport with free airport shuttle so no Manila traffic to deal with.
